Get the 4Runner
A new luxury sedan will be inherently douchy.
An old one would be cool though.

If the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord are sporty enough, I'd have no issue picking one of those.
Check out the Mazda 6 Grand Touring turbo as well. The non turbos are a bit under powered but all the 6s handle great. You can get one fully loaded under well under 40K. Not only are they great driving cars but imo are one of the best looking sedans on the road.

Lexus is 350. 2015-18. ~40 k miles. F sport if you want to pay for some extra whistles.

Been in a 2019 G80 and it was the nicest car I've ever ridden in. Smooth, quiet, great features and most importantly, just felt well built. They've been redesigned for 2021.

This car is not for my kid. He'll drive the 100k mile truck to school and practice. I'll be driving whatever car this is.
LOL! Oh, I read it. But I wouldn't give a truck up for nuthin'. But now that you said it's at 100k, well...
(Assuming you're under $40k, not miles): I'd look for a used Lexus RX 350.

Lexus RC 350 F Sport
Sporty, and it's a Toyota if it has to be repaired! You can get one at around 25K with 30-40k miles. I bought one last year and really like it. Upgrade for the Mark Levinson Stereo package if you can find it. Only real issue I can find with it is the back seat is worthless as no regular sized human can fit back there.

Might as well get the new IS 350 F Sport so you can actually sit 2 people in the back.

Imola Red E39 M5
Under 40k, used, fun daily driver, not douchey.

Used BMW 530i. As long as in manufacturers warranty. 35+ mpg @ 80mph, fun to drive in sport mode, governed to 130mph top speed.
Plenty nice for almost anyone...

He's going to want to drive on the weekends probably more than any other time. Will you let him drive your new car when you're fishing, or does he always go with you?
Having our first teen driver soon too. It's a lot to think about.
