People tell me I am dumb for this all the time but...
My notes.
Car (mine) $0
Car (wife) $0
Boat $0
House $0
I am in my late 30's and should be investing the money I leverage for retirement blah blah blah but not having bills is very freeing and that is worth something.

The wealthiest people almost exclusively finance as to avoid taxes on stock investments.

I haven't paid a car payment in years. That is scary.

I pity someone who thinks they can tell jack shite based on a monthly note. It’s that kind of asinine thinking that dealerships take advantage of every day.

So, it being paid is more than just the interest rate.
For the worth something part, it's worth a snowball effect, because all of that money that would have went to those bills is now 100% investment.
600 + 600 + 1500 + 500 = $3200/mo.
$38k after tax a year isn't so bad.
Now, you do lose out on the time value of compound interest, but most people just invest in the market.
And to be honest, the difference is only realized after retirement, which isn't set in stone.
So, yeah... peace of mind until then is worth alot!

I was paying more than that per month for my kid’s 5.0 ‘Stang when he was in high school.
ETA: ...and then again for the second one after he totaled the first one in his second month of driving.

I think the most expensive vehicle note I've ever had was $475/mo.

Didn't see that one coming?

I just hate the credit score system because it screwed me in December when I got my truck. I've needed a mortgage or loan for anything before because I know how to save. Frickin needed someone to co-sign.

Before covid deals were available, but not now.
The used inventory is so small that new vehicle prices are inflated.

I will finance the shite out of everything for as long as possible at 3% and below.

I don't know why people feel the need to fill out their entire income. Give a baw a 10k raise, he'll go out and get a new truck when the one he's got is only 2-3 years old.
Got a 2016 cherokee sport in great condition in the driveway that's paid for. Car notes are for the birds.
