This board obsesses with other people's finances way too much.

You don't have to "keep up with the Joneses", nor do you have to pay their car note, so who fricking cares.

If someone buys a new car, I don't fricking care how much they paid, or how they paid. This is just girl drama.

Handle your own affairs and live your own life.

Sorry to tell you but you already have a reason that will bite you sooner or later. It’s the 5.4. That is one of the worst engines Ford has ever built and is definitely the worst OHC engine. It’s a time bomb. You should plan accordingly.

I just like not paying a car note.

Me neither and even when I have had notes, due to trade in and downpayments, I've always had low notes.

Lot's of good discussion here about keeping vehicles a long time and it works for most people.
On the flip side, when you have a vehicle that goes to crap and starts staying in the shop, it makes life hell. Some dealerships/shops got really backed up due to parts lead times and lack of qualified labor. It sucks when dealing with that crap. At some point, it becomes pointless and you just have to decide to upgrade vehicles.

Sorry but you are confused. The 3V 5.4L is a problem due the variable cam phasers. The 2V 5.4L's have no variable cam timing and are extremely reliable.

I don’t like living in dept. that’s why my truck is 10 years old with 140k miles on it. I’m gonna drive this bastard until it falls apart. Then I’m gonna get a fricking horse.

Can we now kill the narrative that vehicles don’t last as long as they used to? Today’s vehicles last longer than ever

Mechanically, that is a large part due to the leaps forward that fluids, filtration, and gasoline has made.

I run AMSOIL in my vehicles and religiously change the filters on it with good filters. Our Armada has 224k on it with zero mechanical issues and zero leaks. Not a drop of oil on the garage floor. I would wager that 5.6 has another 100k easily in it.

It does have downstream consequences when the government devalues the dollar in order to help prop up Americans with spending problems.

So if you have saved money your money becomes worth less than before.

It is as long as people are fine living in debt and working until they die.

Probably should be a separate thread but easy access to credit/debt has screwed everything up.

Car and mid-size SUV sales have slowed for us.
However still selling full sized Trucks/SUV's and even before they (2500-3500 Chevy/GMC) arrive to the dealership.

He has gotten twenty years out of the engine. I think we have passed the definition of sooner. And later.

You would probably have the same results using Walmart Super Tech oil

2015 F150 XLT 4WD CREWCAB 5.0L V8
179,000 miles

Been paid off since 2018

Tranny starting to slip, but will probably, rebuild or replace instead of take on another truck note. This note was $335 back in 2015, now it would be equivalent to 700-800. F that

I remember that I’m debt free and can retire before 60.
Our home and my 10 year old truck are paid off, but no way I can retire at 60.

I gotta stack a lot of cash in the next 10 years to even think about retirement.
