Rate is over 8%...also cars are 20% higher than just 4 years ago.

This will not be sustainable. Dealerships aren't selling as many/prices are increasing.

This is a?worrisome trend..

Everyone keeps saying “_____” is not sustainable.

It is as long as people are fine living in debt and working until they die.

I’m about to buy a 9 year old truck for 10k. It’s got 90k miles but it’s in great shape. I don’t need all the modern bullshite that comes with newer models. I’ll probably keep it for 5+ years or until repairing it costs more than it’s worth

I’ve needed a truck for a while and this beats spending 70k on a new one

I’m surprised it hasn’t crashed already

Good news is our society has learned they do not need to rush to trade their vehicle in before it hits 100k miles.

Toyota’s quality has certainly helped as their products are still on wait lists

every time I start to doubt my plan, I remember that I’m debt free and can retire before 60. Regardless of whether I am “rich”, I call that a win

My F150 has 235,000 miles on it with no major problems (except $7000 after being struck by lightning.) Knock on wood.

Nah, you can start a thread asking people to donate to your gofundme when you can’t make a car payment

When people are fine not being able to pay their debt is the problem.

That’s when the banks will get their way. Meaning bailouts, more inflation, and the cycle continues until a crash.

And we are in the middle of the worst kind of crash. A slow, guided crash where our buying power slowly dwindles to nothing. People are expecting this HUGE event, which will someday come, but that’s probably easier to deal with all at once than having your assets slowly robbed from you to feed the rich.

Seems to me I see a lot more older cars on the road these days, just had this conversation with someone.

My truck is 7 years old, and I hope to get another 7 out of it. They just aren't worth what they cost now to me.

I'm going to have to look that way too. I'm 44 and never had a new vehicle but wanted to change that this year, but the way the prices are looking and the new features on these trucks I'm going to settle for used.

My 10 year old Camry has 135,000 miles and is going strong. Just oil changes, brakes and tires so far. I expect to be driving this thing for at least 5 more years.

Anyone shopped for a small truck lately? Chevrolet Colorado's are $40k!! And then they keep their value like crazy. No real deals on used ones unless they are packed with miles. If someone could go back and tell the teenager me that it would take $40k to buy an S10 I would never believe it.

They aren’t really “keeping their value”

This is what happens when inflation starts getting out of hand.

If you paid 40K nine years ago and sell it at 40K today, you sold it for its normal value of 20K at the time you bought it
