I fricking hate it. I have a ‘24 Audi and it only engages when it’s cold outside. I don’t have an option to permanently turn it off. I have to remember to turn it off when I get in the car, but I never do and I get annoyed every time.

The auto start- stop feature in cars
It's a dumb feature, but the one I despise is the adaptive cruise control.

It's an expensive way to game the mileage standards. And it does make your vehicle less reliable. You will burn through alternators more quickly.
And starters.

I ordered the stop auto start thingy as I was sitting in with the finance guy when I was buying my new truck. Best $ 100 I’ve spent in a while.
frick this big government knows best bull shite!

I was able to shim a small piece of paper into the side of the button and permanently disable it.
Educate me. I want to learn. Please sir, if you have the time.

It costs around $400 to replace your batteries when your auxiliary goes out.
I’ve never owned a car with it but had plenty of rental cars with it and I hate it and immediately disable. But what’s the battery concern? I thought they used compression cycle to restart and not the starter. Or is it that the vehicle electronic are loading the battery when the alternator is off?

You can disconnect it.

I can't wait for Trump to ban EVs and auto start stops.

If my AC is under 68 it won't shut the engine off. I have a button to shut mine off though I get in my truck, plug in my phone, start it, hit the auto-stop off button and go about my drive.

The 2022 Wrangler had this
My 2023 Wrangler does not, but that is because it is a 392. The way they did the exhaust to default to open at start would have shocked many people at stop lights. The 392 is an angry starting engine, it has no peaceful start option.

I have a jeep gladiator and it’s a common problem for the wrangler and gladiator for them to go out
Do some Googling my friend. It's easy to defeat on the 2019's or later such that you aren't utilizing the aux battery.
Simply disconnect the aux battery cables and pull the #42 fuse. There's a 100 YT videos showing you how to do this.
If you want to not have to press the button, you can buy a $100 programming cable.
Good lord, don't be so helpless.

Its total bs and im pretty sure there are ways to remotely interfere with all of these vehicles. But isn’t the option to turn it off on all of the vehicles?
Edit: nevermind

It costs money to go green. Don't be a climate terrorist.

I rented a car and that annoys the ever living shite out of me. There is usually a button that can disable it.

To turn this off in late model Fords, it's literally a one character parameter change that even most mouth breathers can't mess up:
"Disable Auto Start/Stop
" PSCM 730-03-01 xxxx -> x0xx IPC "
Change an x to a 0, that's it. (the PSCM is from an Explorer, may be in BCM or elsewhere for a 250, etc. ) Source
If anyone lives in Katy, I'll do this for free just to cut down on the number of threads about it. Double Horn honk disable for free, cause that shite is annoying.

Finally unhooked our auxiliary battery in the van. It’s beeps when you turn the van on and get a warning “auto start stop disabled” but that’s it.
Also, if you simply just let the auxiliary battery die and not replace it or unhook it, the auxiliary will slowly drain from main battery and wear the main battery out much much faster

Wife’s (no pics) car came set up to do that. We turned it off the first week.

Another great example of planned obsolescence.

When I hear them on other people's vehicles at stop lights, I say "damn, I bet that starter goes out quick"
