Just going by what I was told when he bought his a couple months ago. Don't know all the specifics about what the upgraded package included.

What a fricking bad arse piece of machinery. The Germans do it right.

Well this thread was educational in smoking out a douche.

quote:all those DCT are damn tough, I wouldn't worry. There are plenty of baby DCT's in RS3s running 800 hp with 200+ launches with no problems. I've known quite a few people with tuned RS7 that beat on them with no issues. HUracan's and R8's with over 1000 on stock trans no problem. I do understand the "feeling" though. All these cars have a feeling of slamming into gear then the sensation they are going to come apart as they are fighting for grip. My little RS3 does it in 3.1 and it feels just stupid lol.
It had spunk off the line—but...
I didn’t launch much in the Audi because I always had this feeling, like I could almost feel it passing through the steering wheel through to my stomach, the massive torque shredding another 5000 miles of life off the tranny on every launch!
Launching almost 4600 lbs. to 60 in 3.7...something is eventually gonna give, and Audi double clutch =/= PDK.
After seeing the claimed launch numbers on the new M5, somewhere around 3.1, my first thought was “jeez, that poor transmission”...I just don’t see how numerous launches with that much force, on 8 speed trannys, will not take its toll in short order.

A friend of mine has a blue one on order (or pre-order..I forget).
They look awesome, but I couldn’t pull that off. I would look stupid in a 911.

No one looks stupid in a 911.

Who gives a shite how you’d ‘look’ in one.. I’ve never driven one but they seem like a blast to drive.. Honestly that’s all that matters.

Let's hope it's not that neon lime color!

I really like the color on the 3rd pic in the showroom. That chartreuse/yellow/green convertible bullshite is fricking awful though.
I know they haven't changed a whole lot over the years, but theres something about this model that I really like. Cant really pinpoint what makes it look different for me.
ETA Reading through this thread and just LOL at the bammer trying to compare his Camaro to this car. I thought he was at least talking about a vette at first. Nope. And then tells another poster he would race him on a road course I can see a Camaro draggin a 911 on a drag strip maybe. But a fricking road course? Jesus...

I've had a lot of different cars and I've never felt connected to the pavement through the steering wheel like I did in my Porsches. The feeling is difficult to explain but once you've felt it other cars just don't compare.

Meh...I was faster in my Vette than in my 911 on the track.
And the raw power/torque of the Vette made it much more fun as a daily driver.
I was a Porsche guy since before I was a teenager. Dreamed of getting one my whole life. Finally got one and traded it in 1.5 years later on a Vette. Still LOVE the 911, and a professional driver would be faster in the 911 on the track. But for the everyday above average driver, the 911 isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The whole “connected to the road” bit - didn’t feel it.
Just got a new ‘19 Grand Sport - taking it to the track in a week or two.

there is something about the way a 911 feels

To me this is one of the high points for the 911. I DD mine and it's a joy 95% of the time.
You can't find any other make or model with the 911's fit and finish, performance, and reliability. Plenty cars will beat it in one or two of those categories. None will touch it in all 3.

Thought it said “991” and I got really excited that New Balance was bringing back the GOAT for a minute.

Yep. What´s the engine noise level in the interior these days?

Haven’t driven a recent model. I’m afraid if I did I’d be back in the Porsche owners club. Lol
