Who is bent out of shape? My kids go to catholic school. I could just do without the Flying Spaghetti Monster nonsense that goes with it.

Send them to a non religious school

Then find another private school.

I don’t believe Dunham or Runnels are denominational.

If we can get the young one accepted to BASIS, we're all over it. Unfortunately, the catholics capitalized on our failing school system and built themselves quite the school district in its place. Runnels is really the only secular private school established in the area of St. George. International School is nice, but a little too pricey and I'll have no chance helping her do homework in a foreign language.

Early vote THIS SATURDAY

There's no LSU home game or anything going on. Definitely when I'm going.

Consolidated government is the way to go, on paper at least, but no one seems to execute it worth a frick.

Consolidated government can work, but for small rural parishes with small towns that cannot afford the services and resources themselves, not large metropolitan ones. They have the model totally arse-backwards.

And yet politicians in this state insist we don’t have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem.

This is why I laugh so hard when people say "just legalize weed and tax it" but I digress.

And in those cases... those small towns should not have incorporated government. Everything should just fall on the parish.

But what you have in BR is two legally distinct entities - City of BR and EBR Parish - sharing a budget and a governing class. That is absolutely insane and never works, anywhere.

I mean.... it should be legalized.... if you can give me a legit reason why you think it should stay illegal, I’m all ears to hear your reasoning.

Someone remind me... when Kippy did his last set of annexations, did the Advocate’s new building off Siegen get annexed?

No, it took SWB's goon squad to annex Ward Creek to get to Siegen Lane and annex Siegen Village so that the Advocate could be congruent with the City of BR boundary. That's some serious gerrymandering going on.

Not arguing whether it should be legalized or not, but at least come up with a better reason than pouring more money into a freaking blackhole.

I think most people see the added tax revenue as an added bonus, not the reason to legalize.

Ookay what?

Are you saying $0 in tax revenue is better than millions in tax revenue?

Even we (pre-incorporation Sandy Springs) didn't have this problem with Fulton County/City of Atlanta.

I’m saddened by the fact that Middle & Upper Middle Class people in BR and Nola have just accepted that they will pay taxes for public schools they won’t use in addition to Private school tuition.

Well, look at what happens when they try to better the status quo.

Honestly, it’s looking like you will be rewarded for your efforts. This is the 1st time I’ve seen the people of BR or Nola stick together and fight hard for a better life. Should have happened a long time ago.

And get called racists every step of the way. The status quo is working so well too.
