Can't wait to early vote this on Saturday. Gonna have an ice cold budweiser to celebrate after.

Consolidated government is the way to go, on paper at least, but no one seems to execute it worth a frick.
Unfortunately, they never treated the unincorporated area the same as the city, so it was never truly consolidated.
There is a new article today talking about how a St. George school district would instantly become one of the richest in the state, but costs may go up if it is great. frick it, if we have a great school district, I'd pay twice the taxes and save money on Catholic school tuition.

If St George and a school district had happened 5-10 years ago, I wouldn’t be living in Zachary.
Nice area but I hate the commute considering that family and most shopping we need is smack in the middle of St George.

If we had more than one school aged kid we'd be living in the burbs. I'm willing to pay private school tuition for one for my 10 minute commute to work.

Yeah, you can't consolidate and still have a city police and what not. The whole point of consolidation is economies of scale.

The new Jefferson Terrace has been going up so fast it's unbelievable. There are people out there every single weekend day all day and during the week there are so many people they line the streets outside the enclosed parking. At this rate it'll be done in February
I heard it won't be magnet, but any information on how this plays out with St George as well? The drawings of the school look legit and progressive.

That had some factor in my decision to put my kid in private school too. It would just get extremely expensive for a family with say 3 kids

Public schools are becoming anxiety ridden day prisons for kids.

Catholic schools teach kids there is a magical being in the sky that forgives all of their shitty decisions and trashy behavior. No school is perfect.

Your property taxes don't pay for Catholic schools.

Sure as hell beats telling your kids they aren't going to live long because of fricking climate.
This happened to us in 3rd grade. Pollution and the new ice age. Scarred me for years
frick that indoctrination.

Stop derailing this thread.
Voting for SG would keep Baton Rouge on life support indefinitely. Voting against it would ensure it becomes Jackson, MS in less than a decade.
The best thing that could happen for Ascension, Livingston, Houston, and Dallas is for SG to fail. They'll benefit greatly.

You're absolutely incapable of understanding something I explicitly posted.

The city-parish plan of government benefits the City of BR only. It's clear why they are trying to save this.
quote:
An incorporation of a large section of East Baton Rouge’s unincorporated area would weaken and threaten the combined form of city-parish government,” BRAC noted.
Good, good.

I’m voting against St George bc the day I vote for more government is the day you can put a tag on my toe.
It’s BS
Right now you call the C-P to get a ditch cleaned out, a pot hole fixed or a street sign replaced and you get put on a list, but nothing is done.
Hopefully with SG you will call city hall and someone will take care of your problem, and if they do it won’t because they are calling C-P. It will because they got it done themselves.
There’s no other layer, it’d just replacing a corrupt layer with an effective one.

My issue with St. George. They do not have the infrastructure. And their plan is horrible. How are they going to pay for schools, teachers, police, fire department, trash, and all the small things I’m leaving out? Also, do they realize the second this happens EBR police won’t get their calls and only the state or sheriff office will? Talk about crime going crazy. Also, the school issue is huge. Every kid that attends a magnet school would no longer be able to attend it. And what about paying for teachers. Hate to tell them, every profitable business that brings in lots of taxes already annexed into EBR in preparation so st George would have no choice but to tax the residents a ridiculous percentage just to stay afloat.
Do you have an IQ of 10? Or are you being intentionally dishonest?
