It's not more government. It's different government.

It is basically a vote of no confidence towards the baton rouge city government

I've seen how government works. Even with the best of intentions, "different" will eventually turn into more.

And if they wonder why, the attempt to replace the late Buddy Amoroso with a black liberal Democrat thanks to the black members of the Metro Council, save Tara Wicker, is a huge part of that IMHO.

Trying to deadlock the replacement vote so that JBE could appoint someone who doesn’t reflect the wants and needs of an area was a declaration of war by Chauna Banks et all.

Someone with better research skills than me should do an entire article on all the decisions the parish made in 1940.

Hint: I bet some racist as shite frick was going on then.

I think I'm missing your point. I think we all know that the country is in a lot better place as far as race relations than it was 80 years ago.

It’s not more government, it’s localized government. It’s representation localized with the specific community needs as priority.

Any small government conservative should support this effort.

I say everyone should "reject" the Advocate. Its time for them and WBRZ to be put to rest.

The Advocate is lauding a decision from 1940. How many articles have they written decrying decisions from that time period?

It’s been covered, but you’re voting towards giving more of your rights to somebody further away. I’m as Ron Swanson as they get when it comes to government but I want more power given as to as micro and local as possible.

I can’t do anything against a Senator from California that wants to take my guns/speech/money away, but I have a lot more voice with my city councilman.

I’m for St George and their right to have neighborhood schools but I ‘own’ two houses in Baton Rouge — one in Southdowns and one in Magnolia Woods.

Out of pure selfishness, I’ll be voting no. People like me will be left holding the bag and having to support the parasitic underclass.

It’s going to be difficult to sell your house when there are better options literally right down the street?

Maybe. I'm not that worried about it. My house will be paid for in 5-6 years.

There are plenty of people in BR that don't care which school district they live in because they are sending their kids to private school anyway.

The Advocate’s changes to web policy, effectively paywalling themselves, will finish them off because most people only get the paper if they have a bird or a crawfish boil.

Lol. This is great. Also, why do you have own in parentheses?

And let me say, “difficult” may be a bit much. You still live in a highly sought after area. I was just trying to answer your question of why your neighbor may be against StG.

I’m saddened by the fact that Middle & Upper Middle Class people in BR and Nola have just accepted that they will pay taxes for public schools they won’t use in addition to Private school tuition.

I think a lot of those people are ones who have kids in the magnet program and are scared shitless a St George ISD happens and they either have to send their kids to regular public school or pay for private school.

In other words, what most other people in the parish have been having to deal with.

I have some sympathy for those that live in St George but send their kids to magnets schools. That's a small minority though and they'll have years to prepare for any changes.

When was the last time "The Advocate" was relevant? I mean to anyone but advertisers and coupon clippers.

I bought a copy a couple weeks ago (I guess I was felling a little nostalgic). What a cluster! Only thing worse is their website.
