“ That such a life- suffocating algae bloom would occur as the wealthy, mostly- white residents luxuriate nearby is a concern to many. “

“ World to end at midnight . African Americans and LGBTQ Community hit hardest”.

There is a specific reason people don’t read the Advocate news section.

The problem with City Park Lake is that it wasn't dug deep enough.

If that were the case, why hasn't this been a problem in the past? It's not like the lake got more shallow all of the sudden.

Day one of future digging Advocate headline "Residents complain about smell from dirt removed from LSU Lakes" Local expert claims that dirt is toxic and must be mitigated.

Dirt put back project cancelled.

Stumps, Money, what do you do with the spoil etc.

The minute the work starts on it, we will have the POS SJW idiots whining about beautifying North Baton Rouge instead of the lake. I can guarantee that.

BRAF raised $5 million, but the estimated cost of the project is at least $50 million. LSU AD Scott Woodward has said that they might be willing to pitch in some money. BREC has refused to publicly put forth any money.

Because the government of the city has earned that mindset. If Kip was still mayor, maybe people wouldn’t be so pessimistic, but with Broome in charge, we know nothing positive that benefits any white people will likely get pushed to completion if it requires even the most moderate of efforts by the mayor’s office.

LSU's environmental engineering department is evolved with cleaning up the lake and has designed runoff mitigation wetlands. But none of the wetland stuff has been funded so the department is just waiting on BRAF to fund the construction

Then get the frick out there and campaign against Broome.

And this was hopefully going to be funded by private donations to BRAF, so politics should get out of the way if they get the money. Have you donated? I have.

Copper Sulfate ...It works, treat half the surface area now the other half in a month, the algae will disappear and the fish will live, repeat applications may be necessary in the future, talking thousands, maybe tens of thousands, but no where near millions of dollars

I thought people finally stopped doing the carp deal because they frick like rabbits and take over every body of water they are introduced to

I think for larger bodies of water with vast ecosystems and strong fishing it is a bad thing.

The LSU lakes are a stagnant sewer at the moment. I'm sure there are some mutated bass in there with 7 eye balls that will be upset about the carp, but that's probably it.

The people living in the neighborhoods around it, BREC and LSU needs to bankroll it. They are who benefits from it. I don't feel like all taxpayers need to all jump in on this.
