Jackson, who sits on the COA board, acted in her position as head of the law clinic to help Plummer draw up a will that authorized $500 monthly payments to Clark-Amar over 20 years for acting as Plummer’s executor — an unusually high fee. Jackson also named herself as the estate’s attorney after Plummer’s death, which would have allowed Jackson to use her role as a provider of free legal services to the elderly to get a potentially lucrative side deal.

After Plummer died, her family balked at the will, and the subsequent controversy prompted Jackson and Clark-Amar to withdraw from their roles in the estate.

Jackson and Clark-Amar’s actions are also being investigated by the state Office of Inspector General and the Louisiana Board of Ethics. Jackson is under investigation by the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board, too.

quote:

But other questions remain. Why is Jackson, who demonstrated such an obvious ethical lapse, still on the board that oversees Baton Rouge’s Council on Aging? And why is Clark-Amar, whose role in the development of Plummer’s will seems like a case study in double-dealing, still in place as the COA’s executive director?

When the agency’s supporters touted a 10-year property tax two years ago that more than doubled COA’s budget, we urged voters to reject the idea, which they approved at the polls, anyway. What’s happened since has only deepened our skepticism about the agency’s ability to responsibly handle its affairs, and we suspect we’re not alone in our grave doubts about the direction of Baton Rouge’s major public steward of services for the elderly.

The first step in restoring public confidence is for Jackson and Clark-Amar to resign from their roles in leading the agency.

Taxpayers who agreed to give COA more of their hard-earned money deserve nothing less.

They can either quit or be fired, but either way, both of them belong behind bars.

If anyone is willing to lend us a forklift and flatbed to transport Tarsha to EBR Parish Prison, the taxpayers would be eternally grateful.

Well when every single solitary thing you have tried to do has crashed and burned in front of your face, it doesn’t sit well with people. Especially when you have been caught doing criminal stuff and also getting paid really well.

That’s the most racist piece of journalism I’ve ever read.

They be witch hunt. Facing acquisitions after acquisitions.

Finally the rest of the local media follows Nakamoto’s lead. The Advocate has to stand up and call out the corruption in our local govt. Good on them. Put Tarsha behind bars

The silence from our "honor code" Governor, is absolutely DEAFENING ! LOL
ALL of the parish council on aging agencies operate via a 'charter' granted by the state/governor...apparently, that No BR block vote is just too valuable politically....would hope that some/ANY political opposition would surface but, FAT CHANCE of that !

We’ll never live long enough to see Tarsha and Jackson resign from the COA.

This story is one that sickens me to the core as a taxpayer. And it’s the tip of the iceberg when it comes to government waste and corruption. I tend to ignore national politics because shite like this is happening right here under our nose and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it even on a local level. How in the hell are we ever going to stop federal or even state-level corruption if we can’t stop Dytasha and her friends from stealing our money when it’s so blatant?

Meh, Baton Rouge is hopeless. Build a tunnel for I-10 so we don't have to even see that place.

The worst part is everyone knows this is going on... and nobody is gonna do anything. Nothing will happen to them. It’s a joke.

Was VERY surprised to see the SU administration step up and do the right thing and fire her. So, there are still some that are willing to make a stand against public corruption like this...that's the good news !
Hopefully this 'courage' will now also be utilized when it comes to the many questionable 'actions' by the NBR elected 'mob' and those in the judicial brach such as tarshas' mommy judge janice clark !
Hold your breath BR taxpayers...lol
