For once I wish these assholes would put as much time and attendance in their dishes as I do!! My turkey(s) were awesome but the rest was shite! No love just dishes thrown together!

A couple thanksgivings ago I was deep frying a bird for the first time. Read all the recipies and everything seemed to be going well. At about 45mins I went to temp it. Pulled it up had the wife temp it. Still not done. Not even close. Ok, back in the oil it goes. 15 mins later, same thing. Not even close. 30 more minutes. still not done. WTF. Then I looked at the thermometer. She had it in Celcius. Damn bird was dry AF. At least the breast was ok. The rest was like turkey jerky.

This will be the second year in a row we’re doing Thanksgiving without any extended family (flu last year; covid bullshite this year).
While I miss the fellowship with family, I am happy to be cooking everything. It’s like the Thanksgiving spread I always dreamed of and I don’t have to put up with half assed, boring dishes from everyone else.

No family drama just dog drama today. I had to bring Great Dane #2 to the vet ER this morning. She couldn’t get up to walk this morning and stomach was swollen. Ended up having to carry her to the truck while she decided to shite everywhere along the way. Then proceeds to shite in the back of the suv while I’m driving her to the ER and I was gagging my arse off.
No drama with the family though. Just 8 of us this year but you’d think 50 people were coming with all the food we have.

Pretty sane thanksgiving here - my husband told his family to f-off years ago
My sister and her pain in the arse husband are avoiding us bc they’re afraid of the rona
My mom, brother, and nephew are here. (Dad’s dead and my bro is single) nephew is playing with my kids - no drama (usually never is with them)
My husband is a professional cook - so we’re all fat as hell right now and all I had to do was clean up! I guess we will break out the booze after our naps.

Just our immediate family this year so no drama. Only problem is that I hit the Martinis early and soon I have to carve the turkey. Someone might get a surprise finger for dinner.

I'm thankful for no drama as usual. My mom is getting pretty old and just had a case of the walking farts while walking through the living room. That was pretty damn good comedy for the younger folks.

Just the wife, myself and two grandkids. One returns to Louisiana tomorrow, the other is here for another year.
Kids are still sleeping, they stayed up late. Very quiet, snow on the ground. Peaceful.
