They need to get the range a gasoline powered truck gets and recharge in the same time it takes to fill a vehicle with fuel before I would even consider it.

That's decades away, if it will ever be possible. Only way is quick change batteries. Charging will always have a bottleneck.

That would get me to Fayette County reservoir and would need a charge. I foresee state and national campgrounds adding these chargers in the near future.

It's not. Which is why most trucks offer a bigger tank than the 24 gallon used in this test. My truck holds 36 and can go farther pulling a camper thank my wife's SUV can empty.

Will be interesting to see what the Tesla semi gets fully loaded real world. Elon says over 600 miles and supposedly test drivers have gotten 500 with a full load and with a battery pack that only adds a ton to the weight of an empty diesel rig but I'm skeptical.

Marinas are going to have to start installing charging stations so baws can leave their trucks on the charger while they go fish in order to have enough juice for the drive home after they get back to the launch.

Imagine getting in your lighting and trying to enjoy your weekend camping or on the water, and then you spend 4+ hours of already short weekend sitting at charging stations.
They had the ER version. The SR version would only get you about 70 miles towing that trailer. So for every hour you drove you have to stop and charge for about an hour. Totally useless vehicle.

There's no way I'm ever buying a full-time EV.
Hybrid at least gives you fuel options when the need arises.

Does anybody think there will be a big market for say 90s era pickups (especially heavy duty) moving forward? Seems like they will be easy for mechanics to fix if all we have is electric junk in the future. Of course that’s assuming the government doesn’t confiscate your 99 Chevy 3500.

The problem is that charging stations are often in parking lots so the trailer sticking out can block traffic, like what happened in the Target parking lot in the video this thread is about.

Could be difficult getting to a station as well, and I suspect these lines don’t move as quick as those at gas pumps.

Well don't get a Sierra then. Got Ecoboost 3.5L, and this month took a vacation, 1,500 miles @75mph, got 23.2 mpg (all interstate, hills, but "flat"). Sure was nice seeing the ole range till empty up above 800 miles, lol. You know, until fillup time. Towing 5,500 travel trailer, I get 11.4mpg on highway doing 65mph. Which is a hair over 400 mile range.
