I'm not sure if bigger or better than Mckinneys but I know Katy ISD just approved building one bigger than Allen's.
interesting aspect of the Katy stadium is the additional expense to meet Fed and State environmental regulations that ad I believe .
unnecessarily to the cost.
The parking lot drainage is an example , really ads to the over all cost. And in Katy's case the land was grandfathered because the ISD already owned it

public works projects that everybody will actually use everyday instead a single purpose stadium that will be used like maybe 10 ten times out of the whole year.
There's also an attached events center and if it's similar to the Berry Center in Cypress, TX, they will also host concerts, Cirque du Soleil type shows, plays, etc. will create revenue.

Because they all go to LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma.

I agree. I think some supers took a lot of heat over the Merrill Center but they've attracted the Southland Basketball conference tourney and many expositions. I think the complaint now is they didn't build it big enough.

the two stadiums side by side will host HS soccer/lacrosse tournaments. Katy will make money on these improvements. Not enough to pay for the stadium but more than enough to cover operations costs and will help pay down debt

I voted "Yes" on Saturday. A lot more was included than just the stadium. A lot of necessary updates to schools.
And a nice stadium.

Rhodes Stadium and the new KISD Stadium will host 14 junior high and 7 KISD HS teams
plus soccer, band, lacrosse, middle school games etc
It will pay for itself many times over. I am all for it, you get what you pay for.

Not really... The current stadium was built in 1962 to accommodate a town of only a few thousand.

I started school in McKinney and my bros graduated from there. Amazing growth there.
DFW continues its transformation into SoCal. Collin County is the new Orange County.

In many of these bond packages they're simply a renewal of existing property taxes. I can't find much information on this one in particular, but it may not have increased taxes in the slightest.

Just your run-of-the-mill case of keeping up with Jones'.

What kind of message does that send?
Why would this be any different than a university building a nice stadium or doing expensive upgrades?

If they are smart, they won't let any Aggies build it.

Typically stadiums like this will host games for multiple teams in the district and end up hosting 2-3 games per week during the football season. At $12/ ticket and 12,000 seats, that's 3-4 million a season in revenue before concessions or programs or parking assuming they have revenue from those as well.

The thing I hate about this, is that it will be closed off to the public. Great facilities & Assets that some overpaid high school coach will think he's the God of.
Yeah, you don't know how ISDs work in Texas. This will be used by multiple schools and likely host soccer as well as football. No one coach is shutting it down.
I love the way Texas ISDs are set up. It's infinitely better than the system we have in Louisiana.

Tax dollars aren't being spent on it so I see no problem.
