I think this is why many are chiming in so against it, they just don't understand that Texas ISDs operate much differently and better than the Louisiana school system.

This. Two years ago, I spent 3 weeks working with Tom Westerberg, former Allen HC, and it really opened my eyes to how things should be run.

Well it's also the same group that thinks unless it's in Louisiana it is shite. They already see us as traders for moving out of state. They cannot fathom any place other than Louisiana is a great place to live /raise a family.

They are using the same builder as the new Cowboys Stadium.

The Kelly Reeves stadium on Parmer Lane in Round Rock TX is a damn nice stadium that seats 11000 . I couldn't imagine a stadium bigger but Texas has many bigger and nicer than it . They are usually shared between several schools .

Lot of folks green with envy in this thread. Good for McKinney and those that get to reap the benefits

They had a discussion about this on the radio yesterday...

How do you have so much talent coming out of Texas, but no Texas university has won a championship since Vietnam War...

ETA: Meant to say only one....

If that is adjusted for inflation is it really the most expensive HS football stadium ever? Does no one inflation any more?

Will be used more than 10 times. A few schools share it. But I get your point.

People who complain about this rally just don't understand it.

3 high schools and all the middle schools will be able to use this facility. For football and men's and women's soccer. Maybe even track and lacrosse.

Freshman, JV and Varsity teams. This stadium will be used nearly every night.

The AD had a great quote about it today. The number of non-football kids who will use the stadium is greater than the football numbers.

I live in Rockwall, and we only have 2 high schools and it's used nearly every night.

Another positive point for these ISD stadiums is that schools with existing on campus stadiums can now use them as an additional practice field (previously not allowed due to keeping the field integrity for games) as well as hosting youth games, camps, & clinics for all field sports.

The benefits for ISD use stadiums like these MORE than outweigh the faux shock/outrage over the spending.

Within 20 years you can all but guarantee that every Texas ISD will have facilities like these in addition to the baseball/softball field upgrades to be artificial turf & lights (if they don't have them already), practice field upgrades (better grass or artificial turf as well as lights) & basketball gym upgrades.

What blows me away, specifically in the South Louisiana area is the overwhelming number of public school gymnasiums that still DO NOT have A/C, baseball/softball fields without lights, & practice fields without sprinkler systems.
Absolutely ridiculous.

Many in the community are very unhappy about this project. This proposal passed wrapped up with other city renovations, repairs & upgrades for the city. They said that if this passed taxes would decrease but didn't mention any tax decreases would be due to older bond payments expiring. Then they doubled down saying that if this proposal didn't pass taxes would not decrease but didn't explain why.

ETA: Timeline of TX High School Stadiums with pics & cost just bc it's interesting.

The Star will be unlike anything else in the world & I feel won't be matched or exceeded for a very long time (unless something wild happens in Vegas with the Raiders).
Frisco has simply exploded in population over the last 15 years. They now have enough 5A high schools that have opened that they don't have to leave the city to play a district game. In 95% of the country, that is unheard of. I imagine it will be a bit odd, at first, playing your home game 1 week on 1 sideline then your "away" game the next weekend on the opposite sideline.

Personally, I cannot wait to visit this place once it is opened & take in a HS game or 2.

I don't have anything against the Star other than increased traffic when events are there. I don't plan to vote for another bond proposal any time soon, though. FISD has more than enough money to operate efficiently. Frisco is booming and property taxes are increasing at an astounding rate.
