Everything is bigger in Texas. Like high school football, and how much money the public is willing to spend on building football stadiums for teenagers.
On Saturday, voters in McKinney, Texas, approved a $220 million bond that will allocate $50.3 million toward the construction of a 12,000-seat high school football stadium for the local school district, according to USA Today. The project will cost $62.8 million in total, with the remaining $12.5 million funded by another bond that was approved in 2000.
It will reportedly be the most expensive high school stadium built to date, less than five miles north of the $60 million one in Allen, Texas.

If those dumbasses want to approve that project as a community, more power to them.

The HS football stadium war is on in Tejas.

Well since the TEXAS ISD's that build these stadiums generally do a good job of educating the kids and the taxpayers actually vote in favor for these bonds,, whats the fricking problem ?

It's just a terrible misallocation of funds.
What kind of message does that send owl?

Fwiw, didn't vote, I just moved here.

The thing I hate about this, is that it will be closed off to the public. Great facilities & Assets that some overpaid high school coach will think he's the God of.

I wouldn't vote to pay for that and think it's silly, but it's their town, their vote, and their money.

But will it crack tho?
Someone was smart enough to NOT use the same builder as the Allen stadium.

In fairness, the "town" of McKinney has a growing population already near 150,000 and three high schools (which will probably increase soon). A McKinney ISD complex may not be the worst idea.

Unless they would be getting a hell of a return on their investment in the stadium, that money would be better spent on actual education and other public works projects that everybody will actually use everyday instead a single purpose stadium that will be used like maybe 10 ten times out of the whole year.
