Not to mention that the meat goes to locals because you can't bring it home. Thet get a lot of meat, what is a lot of money to them, and the hunter gets the experience and a trophy. Unless you're shooting lions and giraffes and shite, it's pretty much a win for everyone.

Yeah, I said earlier that I have a hard time with the killing of lions and giraffes and all that but on second thought, every now and then it kinda is necessary to take a few out. Saw a story one time about this arsehole giraffe that kept killing all the young ones and needed to be taken out for the health of the herd. Those hunts, I'm okay with too.

Sort of puts the whole "trophy hunting isn't real hunting" debate to bed.

Depends. Sometimes it's some starving "guide" or guides doing all the real hunting, then the rich dipshit takes a kill shot and goes home with a big stuffed office decoration.

Pretty much all the animals are donated and eaten. You don't get to bring that meat home.

People eat giraffe and lion over there? I wonder what it tastes like.

I’m not sure what a ranch trader is but it should be illegal to sell agricultural land

If you haven’t been able to get a house yet go fix up a boomer or ghetto house or live in an apartment for the rest of your life. Track homes should be illegal

This was specifically called sports hunting. If it was for meat, I'd feel differently.

Unless you're shooting lions and giraffes
There are targeted animals on those types of hunts. Targeted lions will be problem lions or older males that no longer have a pride and become nuisances to the communities and ecosystem. For the giraffes they will target mature animals that have outlived their reproductive cycle. Those teams (the reputable ones) watch the herds and have specific targeted animals that can be killed on the hunts. It's not a free for all roll up and start shooting any animal you see. These hunts are part of the conservation efforts in the area. A nuisance lion can be a nuisance to human and wildlife, the meat and money from selling that hunt helps limit the nuisance and provides needed resources. A giraffe outside of their reproductive years does not help the population, and that hunt provides much needed resources. As long as people are using reputable outfitters and the hunt is to the greater good of the people and animal population, then I see no problem with it. The system now is far greater than the 'wild west' safari hunts that did or nearly decimated several species in the past.

I know, but there's also canned hunts for those species available from less moral companies.

If someone wants to go on a tranq hunt for one of those where they are tagging or providing healthcare, then I see no issue with that either.

Was it an arsehole buffalo? Sometimes, they kill off these hyper territorial alpha animals because they keep killing the rest of the herd.

You can hunt with a firearm, especially large game. It's also ok to take a vehicle to work, enjoy indoor plumbing, etc. We advanced, it's ok to use the tools of today.

With that mindset then don’t expect conservatives to feel bad for liberals when a future doctor or lawyer offs them…

Wouldn't be much of a thrill if there weren't a very real risk of deadly harm, would there?

Buffalo, especially lone male buffalo, are some of the most dangerous animals in Africa. All of the trackers and guides I've been on safari with were highly wary of buffalo. They are apparently known to lurk behind objects like trees and bushes, wait for humans to pass, and then stampede and gore. They are also bilious, vicious characters who will continue to attack until you are dead. Several of my guides have told tales both harrowing and humorous about dashing up trees to escape rampaging mbogo (the Swahili word for buffalo).

Without warning? So are buffalo giving heads up these days before protecting themselves? “Hey Mr Hunter-man, I’m gonna get up and start running right for ya. Be sure to get your gun loaded and in firing position!”

less moral companies
They exist, but people with no knowledge of the benefits these hunts provide lump all of the companies together. I despise poachers and the less moral companies and wish those could be stopped. I have no issue with the ones providing conservation in ways that provide needed support to the communities.
