Seeing quite a few vehicles with Texas license plates around our area. But the issue is, a lot of the vehicles have been purchased from Louisiana dealerships. I know Texas doesn’t have car inspections so is that a possibility for this? What devious scheme is going on here and how are they benefiting? Is it the same as all the sistets with their disabled license plates so they can park up front at the Walmarks?

hmmm, guess i’m just burning money once a year getting an inspection before a new registration sticker then.

How do you know what dealership a vehicle has been purchased from?

And they suck as drivers. Every Jack hole in the left lane holding up traffic seems to have a Texas plate. They refuse to move out of the left lane and at times, it seems like Texas has annexed Southern Louisiana.

Vehicle registration is based on your residence, not place of purchase.

I find Louisiana drivers much worse about this. In Texas they will pull on the shoulder to let you pass.

You really think people will be keeping a residence in Texas just so they can get a license plate so they don't have to get their car inspected while living in Louisiana? LOL!

Also, why do grown men on TD think it's cute to say Walmarks?

This is true and would be no big deal if it were just random vehicles but it is now a significant amount of them inthis area. More to it than just a small number of Texas people in La.

Texas still requires inspections, that updated law doesn’t take effect until 2025.

Then you don't know anything. Texas has always required an inspection. They did away with the separate sticker a few years ago, but unless your inspection is in the system, they will not issue the Registration sticker.

Maybe some kind of border straddling scheme. Work in Texas, live in Louisiana. Avoid Texas property tax and Louisiana income tax.

Your thinking is backwards. South Louisiana annexed Texas, baw. We're the tip of the sword. Bring reinforcements. These Aggies and Hispanics breed like rabbits.

Courteous driving in TX’s urban areas has been decreasing with the influx of carpetbaggers.

Right. It's more streamlined and convenient. I recently got my registration sticker at HEB

What is the updated law? Did it remove the requirement to have vehicles inspected?
