I absolutely do. He's 100% innocent and that picture really helps people visualize the absurdity of this. He is a tiny nerdy kid with a NASA shirt on in handcuffs.

it sounds like it was a digital clock, and if it was homemade and poorly packaged (as you would expect from a 14 y/o) i probably doesn't look like a "normal clock".

There is a video of him in the link, which would have had to have been provided to the news station by him and/or his parents.

It appears this was taken wayyyy to far, but the clock must of looked particularly suspicious if one teacher suggested that he not show the invention to other teachers. I mean, what other reason could there be other than it looked "bombish". It's not like a teacher is going to be like "hey, I really appreciate your clock, but maybe you shouldn't shot the other teachers, because they all tend to be anti-clock".

I agree the teacher did nothing wrong by reporting it as suspicious.

They did not have to handcuff this tiny kid and throw him in jail. There was a teacher on campus to vouch for this. Couldn't they just put him in the office and explain why it was suspicious?

This is absolutely absurd people on here are defending it

Sounds like an excuse some drug dealer might offer up..."oh man those aren't even my pants, I just bought them down the road at the thrift store"

I would like more info before I pass judgement one way or the other

His family must have agreed to it. Its on the front page of NYT website as of this AM.

I think it helps people understand the absurdity of this. If we all just heard "Texas teen named Ahmed arrested for bringing clock to school that looked like a bomb" we'd all picture him looking like this in our heads:

Not some skinny, nerdy goober in a NASA shirt that looks confused as all hell.

I mean there was certainly a responsibility to report it and for the police to check it out. But throwing him in a room and interrogating him is an overreaction. It was probably the dumbfrick school district cops though who are all borderline illiterate and wanted to pretend like they were at G Bay

Agreed.

Glad they handcuffed him and threw him in jail though, he seemed like he a huge threat to everyone
