Like I'd buy a car that doesn't even have a dealership in this state, much less a service department.

Market capitalization is what I assume he meant.
Tesla has a higher market cap than the top 5 or so auto manufacturers combined IIRC.

I can’t imagine that people buy a Tesla for road trip purposes.
The published mile ranges are atrocious. The highest range I can find is the current S long range 19” with a supposed 418 miles...at 55 mph.
If you drive 70+ on the interstate that range drops to 299. Not to mention you have to charge the thing for a while to get it anywhere near the top range.
A 30-min supercharge only adds 177 miles.
So even the best model long range gets 2/3 the range of a average gas engine vehicle and you have to charge it for 30min to get half of the range back.
Seems like Tesla’s are meant for city driving only.

This is true...Which in itself seems weird ... Tesla doesn’t sale enough cars to justify their market cap...this whole thing could just be a fad until the majors really get in the game

They don’t seem high quality to me. The materials, fit and finish...no where near German luxury level. Much rather have a Porsche.

No, they are quick, not fast.
Very quick to speed, but not a top end fast car.

One personal negative experience is not of significant value in a large discussion. It matters to him but “bricking” Tesla’s are a rare occurrence
Ignore him. If it’s not a Ford, then he always “has a friend” that had a terrible experience and the brand is therefore junk.
If you have a driveway and don’t plan to do a ton of 100+ mile road trips, Tesla is a great car. I’ve heard of the AC/heat issues, but that was early on with the Model S. I think they’re fine overall.

I've had a 2020 Model 3 SR+ (base model) for over a year now. Came from an Audi A6 that cost about 17k more.
I am much happier with the Tesla. It is really great to drive due to the instant and linear power, low center of gravity, and RWD. I doubt there is a 4 door made for 40K that compares in driving. Seats are perfect for me in the Tesla so it wins in comfort as well. Tech is dramatically better, the autopilot and huge screen are great. I've had absolutely zero problems with it, probably because I waited and bought it after it had been in production for a while.
The big negative is range for long trips, however this is only in play for me a few days a year and maybe adds 30 minutes to a trip to Florida, not a significant problem. The time I save charging at home and not going to the gas station the rest of the time more than makes up for it

I've got a buddy that is waiting on the tesla truck. Dude has been talking about it ever since they've been introduced. I kept thinking he was fricking with me until he showed me his initial deposit. It's only $100 & refundable but still... That thing is ugly asf

My wife loves her Model 3. It is fun to drive and very comfortable. The interior seems very nice to me. It is quick with great, responsive acceleration and the tech is awesome. We have had it 6 months or so and haven’t been on any long trips yet. She drives 20-30 miles per day generally and it is perfect for that kind of usage. We have a friend who took theirs from Shreveport to Chicago. The navigation system maps out the trip to include the charging stations and stops so it is doable if you aren’t in a particular hurry and want to enjoy seeing parts of the country you’d probably normally simply drive past. No major maintenance issues so far. We do have one small issue. Do any other owners have an issue with the charger having a difficult time making a connection? It seems a little loose when we insert it in the port. We have to fiddle with it a bit more than I like to get it to begin to charge. Just curious. May set up a service appointment to address that issue.

Tesla Car Owners?
Any of you have regrets? Advice?
Close to pulling the trigger...thanks!
Several friends have them. the only complaint I have heard was from a friend who bought an RV.
Teslas cannot be towed and therefore he can't take his Model 3 on road trips

You just keep pretending you know anything child, fake it until you make it...
Teslas are near the bottom in terms of reliability. I know, you EV homer's ignore the inconvenient facts but that doesn't change them. Tesla is giving Lucas Electronics a run for the historical record on shoddy automotive electrical systems.

I’ve seen you post in enough car threads, you shite on every brand except for Ford with anecdotes.
Also, not an EV homer.

Test drove one a few weeks back. Completely sold, just waiting to see if they bring back the tax credit before getting one.

I knew very little about them when I took the plunge. 1.5 years later, easily the best vehicle decision I ever made. I was never one to like driving or just thinking it's fun in general, but even after a year and a half, it legit still feels like when you get a new car and just like driving for the sake of driving.
IT's a cool experience.
