I am a legit gear head.

Love motorcycles and try to get a manual transmission with any car I purchase.

I bought a Tesla S last year and it is fantastic. Smooth acceleration, quiet cabin, no maintenance, and no gas stations.

I love it. Would buy another. It’s a wonderful vehicle.

I’m test driving a y and a 3 tomorrow. Really excited to see if they are worth the hype. Question for you guys, should I shell out the 10k for full drive or extended range? Can’t afford to get both without going over budget

Friend of mine loves his. But some jackass backed into his car in a parking garage, and he had to wait a year for them to fix it. Still drove but the self driving mode was disabled due to one of the sensors being hit. Really a pain in the arse to get anyone to do body/warranty work if something gets dinged up. That said, he still loves it

Friend got one. Went out of town and left it in his garage on the charge plug. Came back and it had broken down. Literally broke down while sitting in the garage and had to have it taken to Dallas to repair. Thing has been a basket case of electrical glitches since. Great car for cultist fart sniffers.

Same goes for Prius owners.

My mechanic says the Model 3 is the GOAT car and has a better battery than the Model S

I'm getting one for sure

Extended range. Fsd later, they may have a subscription service to turn on and off fsd in the future. We were lucky and got the early adopter discount 2 years ago. Was only $3k then and included a new computer upgrade.

Ota software updates are very under rated as well, car does a lot more stuff than when we bought it. And it's actually faster now too, all with WiFi updates.

Volvo... they have the safest vehicles.

This certainly used to be the case, but so much anymore as other manufactures have caught up.

Besides, crash tests only tell part of the story as they are only tested at 40mph.

Also occupant mortality rates have too many variables to adequately compare among vehicles. Physics plays a major role in this.

I’m interested in a no option Model S. The AC/heater issue previously mentioned is the first I’ve heard of that, anyone else experience that? Is it true the S does not have the same QC issues as the more inexpensive models due to being built in a separate plant?

The resale value is impressively high on them. I’m starting to see more Audi eTrons on the road but their resale values are atrocious. The Mach E only has a 200 mile range. Porsche has a Taycan around $80k base coming out but it’s not AWD until the $100k 4S. Tesla will continue to lead the market for years until Porsche can get the SUV lineup electrified.

I would pay for extended range over autopilot.

Battery life will degrade over time. Which will directly shorten your range. Your range will be the biggest limit to a Tesla. The maximum range is not usable on a daily basis.

Get the largest battery you can afford in your budget.

One personal negative experience is not of significant value in a large discussion. It matters to him but “bricking” Tesla’s are a rare occurrence.

The amount you save on maintenance easily pays for a new battery. OTA updates also add mileage

I had a friend pick me up at the airport in his Tesla and I was blown away by the tech screen on the dash. And I know it’s a battery operated car, but the damn thing was so quite that it took some getting used to.
I think if I had to drive around town without any road trips it would be beneficial

Love ours. No maintenance is great, oil changes, gas stations are great. Had it for 18 months and only one issue so far with the charger. Made an appt, brought it to new orleans, chilled for a couple hrs at the nearby brewery that they paid for me to uber to, then picked it up and went home.

Just get rid of it before the warranty runs out.

My mother got a Model 3 about 3-4 years ago. Car runs smooth and accelerates quick. She really enjoys it. She also got a tax credit as well, I think back then it was $7,500. Maybe $2,500 now.

Don’t get the full self drive. Not sure it’s worth it. You can always buy it anytime but not sure it’s worth 10k

Strange response.

It’s just a used Tesla S. You can find them everywhere for $30,000 or less.

It’s not a Bugatti Chiron.
