I can see from the responses you've come to the right place. You will be asked to pull over and sign a questionnaire. It states you will quarantine for 14 days or the duration of your stay whichever is shorter. You will give the address of the place you are going to quarantine. So you can go to the place to pick up your stepson but you can't go drink beers at Hooters for instance. You can't then go to Fredericksburg to look at Bluebonnets, stay overnight or do wine tasting. But you can hang out at his apartment, get some take out pizza, rest and come back home. There will be no TDPS officers to wave bye to you as you head back east. If you desire I can point you to a website that spells this out. And you can print out the document you will sign and fill it out in advance.

Isn't it wonderful times. The state of Texas stopping US citizens like a bunch of communist. But let's not forget the millions of illegal Mexicans they allowed into the USA so they can have cheap labor to help their economy and then brag about all the jobs they created.

This is strange. Illegals won't sign the papers so Texas just gave up on them. I sense some bad vibes from you about Tx. We do have more going on for us here than you do ob=ver there. Work to improve the opportunity in your state.

Privileges and immunities for me, but not for thee.

It’s all a publicity stunt and they have no way of enforcing it. Having the checkpoint is just a political stunt so Abbott can act like he’s accomplished something.

Type a letter that you are providing essential transportation services. They will wave you through.

I went through last week.

Keep asking them two questions:

1) Am I being detained?

2) Can I leave now?

Also, don’t EVER roll your window down.

I went this weekend. Picked a company headquartered in Texas, pulled their logo off the website and made it into letterhead, then wrote a letter saying I was going for work. Easy as hell

Don’t stop at the welcome center and you will be fine. My sister in law works in Houston and drove back Sunday. She said they were questioning ppl at the rest stop but that was it. FWIW she has travel papers from her job.

So we're just gonna tack a fraud charge on top of the charge for breaking quarantine?

Has ICE raided your Mississippi poultry plants lately? Wonderful times.

Texas is underreporting and not testing. This is all for appearances.

Louisiana will close their border to Texas soon, interrupting the travel plans for about 8 Texans
