I lived in Baton Rouge my entire life. About 6 years ago we moved to Mandeville with our 3 kids. It's been the best decision I've ever made. Schools are great and it's a great place to raise a family. You won't regret the move.

I don't understand this, could you phrase this as if I were from Livingston Parish.

It's just a nice pleasant little area with very good schools and nature/scenery. Not really anything flashy or overboard really. Good place for a family though.

It still amazes me how big Mandeville has gotten in the last 20 years. Everytime I go back home it seems there a new red light and business on the corner. I remeber when there was a had full of lights on 190. And the traffic is horrible. its like BR east.

I love it, grew up there and currently live there. Can go to public schools if you live in Mandeville school district. Lot of neighborhoods, gated and non gated. Great for kids, huge recreation facility called Pelican park where all of the youth sports are held. Nice grocery stores, shopping, etc.. The lakefront area is great, next time i move I am moving to old mandeville (South of Monroe) can walk to the lake front, bars, restaurants. I would recommend either that area or west of causeway.

If your kids play basketball, contact me. I know a training facility that is the best around located off Highway 59 North that will turn them into players.

Thanks for the response. I've only been there one time and it seems that the housing choices are either in a highly developed area or out in the sticks with little in between.

I dont know what your income is, but off of Soult street and Hwy 1088 area there are a lot of new neighborhoods with about 2000 or less sq foot houses, those neighborhoods where they clear all the land and trees and build a 100 houses that look alike, I hate them.
If your budget is a little higher, look around Covington Coutnry Club and riverwood, they are established neighborhoods with older houses, lots of them have been renovated, there are trees throughout the neighborhoods. River Oaks is right next to these and probably a little pricier, but nice houses, great neighborhood. Then there is Beau Chene, pricey, but nice community with security, 2 golf courses, nice houses, big trees. Off of east approach you have Fontainbleu and Woodstone that are nice, then the Sanctuary is super nice and gated. I'm partial to that side, all of those neighborhoods are west of causeway/190.
