We just purchased in Lake Ramsey in North Covington and love it

Warm water (sometimes hot) and hunting 1 minute outside of the hood are nice. I have had a couple of buddies who lived there. Worst part is coming up 190 to get home, but you can also go through by Covington High

Parents live there. It can be a nice getaway from Uptown sometimes.

Sounds like Louisianans in general. Most have never set foot outside the country and think of Destin as the end all be all for vacationing.

Ahhh, the good ole days when you could drive out to the overpass to drag race and drink beer for hours without a single car driving by.

I'm in my 40's and lived the first half of my life in and around BR. I still miss certain aspects of it and my extended family is still there, but Mandeville and the surrounding areas are great.
Lakefront area is beautiful and well kept. Tchefuncte river close by and lots of great restaurants relative to the size of the area.
Pelican park is great for sports and there are a lot of year round family type activities and festivals. Also, the st. Tammany trace runs through Mandeville, Covington and Abita.
Traffic is rough for a couple of hours in the morning and evening, but nothing compared to BR or NOLA. With a few exceptions, place is relatively dead after 10:30 pm , so maybe not a great place if you are young and single and like going out late.
Crime is very low and consists mostly of bored teenagers doing stupid S$!T. Schools are mostly great. Laid back atmosphere.
P.s. I've heard lots of rumors of the amount of "swapping" parties that go on, but don't know if it's just urban legend or not

I used to do the same thing....minus the racing. We'd also sit out on Lake Rd and get drunk all night

It's a fact, baw.

Mandeville's esteemed previous mayor, after his 37th visit to the swinger's club that was operating near the lakefront, ordered it shut down.

Mandevillians didn't want such a turrible thing going on.

At least not right out in the public...

There was one by the lakefront.

The city shut it down, after some ace undercover detective work.

Price administration, so it's been awhile.

Never said it was.

I don't recall the name of the one they shut down, tbh.

Gotcha. I thought Katrina put that joint out of biz.

edit: I see its still open. I remember them sitting in there on folding chairs afterwards with ice chests of beer. No windows or walls left basically a slab and a shell of the building...

Great place to live and raise kids with great public schools but boring as everyone has pretty much said. And there really isn't all that much in Covington or Madisonville either so you've basically got nothing to do which is why everyone swings and there are lot of house parties.

Don't know about the old joint with Mayor Price but on any given Saturday you can meet two or three couples at The Barley Oak who can introduce you and your wife into the Mandeville swing scene, that's what happened to us.
