If you take it, Live in Hattiesburg (oak grove) and it’s just like any other suburb type town. Food is pretty good relative to the size. College town. Public school (Oak Grove High School) is one of the best in the state for what it’s worth. Highway 98 has everything you need. Living downtown wouldn’t be recommended. Crime is higher closer into town.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. At one point, Jones County proudly proclaimed on the front page of their website they had more churches per capita than any other county in the country.

If you throw a rock in a random direction, you're going to hit at least two churches.

Do NOT live in Laurel. There are a few nice subdivisions on the outskirts that are family friendly. Ellisville is a decent community. If you are coming here for one of the 3 big businesses; oil, chickens or transformers then ask where they live. The popular majority will tell you Windermere. I got the frick out of town about 5 yrs ago and moved to family property west of town.

agree with this. my family lives west of Laurel still. i wouldn't recommend this unless you crave a nice big rural piece of land. if you are looking for city amenities, there is nothing there.

That would be a shite long commute from Oak Grove to Laurel. It would be 70-80 miles per day and at least 45 minutes each way. frick that. Oak Grove is nice, but not if you're working in Laurel.

I would encourage everyone who is considering putting $200k into a home in Laurel, MS to review THIS LISTING on realtor.com. Days on Market: 1,534

That's over 4 years being listed without selling. It's a beautifully renovated house that was completed gutted and redone. We knew the sellers and saw the house as it was being renovated. Sheesh.

Southaven (or anywhere in DeSoto) hasn't been the fastest growing anything since 2005.

Growth has been slow since then.

Only knowledge is from driving through there, but based on that knowledge, would slit my wrist in a warm bath if had to make it my primary residence
