I got a pretty good job offer in Laurel, MS. I wouldnt have to live in Laurel but no more than about 30 minutes away.

Married, one kid in elementary.

Remember stopping at the mall on my way through laurel to grab some chick fila. Was the saddest thing I have ever seen

I was working in Houma for a while. I got sent to Laurel for work for several months. Laurel made Houma seem amazing. We'd drive into Hattiesburg every once in a while. But otherwise, it was boring AF.

I went to a restaurant downtown once and had one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten.

That’s all I got.

I travel through there a good bit and it seems kinda ghetto to me

Meridian and Hattiesburg are Laurel's cultural hubs, if that says anything.

You'll be better off living in Hattiesburg and making the commute honestly.

There isn't a whole lot more to do but it's sure as hell better than Laurel. Better schools in Hattiesburg area as well.

Pro it’s a small town
Con it’s like 30% white

Do it, buy some land and build a nice house, but find a better town around there to live in first.

The free and independent state of Jones.

Jones County, Mississippi.

Don’t live there. Live in Lamar County (Oak Grove)
and commute.

Laurel is a shithole.

The area around Hattiesburg is coming up.....but not Laurel.

It's pretty depressing.
