She'll like it if she's from the west side of the parish as most of the folks from Chalmette live there now. It'll be like being home.

How Spanish has Chalmette become? It has been a couple of years since I have been in Da Parish More so than before, but not all that many. Nothing like Kenner for example.

i would assume not a single person from Spain lives there

Thanks for all the replies. The real issue is that right now I live and work in BFE Mississippi. The pay is great and I love living out here, but there’s not really much for kids and I’d like to be where there is more for them to do. I just learned about these 2 opportunities last night. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth moving my whole family. Add to this that I’d be taking big pay cut to move there.

Early 90's Chalmette was a good place. It has drastically changed since then, even before the storm. If you're a doc, might want to consider living "down the road" in Sylvia Estates

Probably still largest Spanish heritage population in the state with Islenos. But the poster understood I was referring to the Meso-Americans.

Most corrupt cops I've ever come across. If you're from there you can probably make that work in your favor.

2019 Los Isleños Fiesta is being held this weekend. Might be the most charming thing about the Parish.

It’s really not that long of a commute if you drive through Slidell.

Work in Chalmette and Commute from Arabi. Arabi is widely considered God's Country.

As a doc, you should know that it is one of the very rare professions (along with oil and gas) that the pay is inverse of the cost of living and the desireability of the area. BFE Louisiana can pay better than New York City.

So if you are looking 3 jobs as a doc then the offers likely offer how crappy the place is to live.

So yeah, if Chalmette pays well...you know why.
