This happened to my son in around 8th or 9th grade. He didn’t come to me but I walked in his room and saw his eyes were red. I asked what was wrong and when he told me I said did you reply yet? He said not yet and I told him to reply “k”.
He said no way bc he really liked her and I told him if he really liked her he needs to listen to his momma and reply k.
It took awhile to convince him to send it but a few mins later he ran in the livg room saying OMG how’d you know? I said what did she say?
She told him “You don’t care? I was just seeing what you would say.”

Appreciate the concern but he does social avoidance because he doesn’t like people. I’ve spent enough time with him to know. He really compartmentalizes things well. Part of the reason I’m hanging out at his house is I was worried about his mental state after his last deployment (his aircraft was second on site Veterans Day at the crash site). He was close with a couple of the guys lost and while it bothers him in some ways it’s not trauma. He’s built to handle it somehow.

OP - tell your son if he wants his original GF back, he needs to give her the space she’s asking for and DO NOT call or text her. Not even once. If they know they can string these young guys around and treat them how they want because they’re sure they will take them back, it’s gonna be a rough couple of months for him.
