I hope my daughters never have to go through this shite.

People were cruel when I was growing up but not to that degree.

Find the little bitches who harassed her and string them up.

So fricking sad. Most of the type bullying is a transference of anger onto a weaker person. This is a perfect example. I bet the stepdad beat the older brother so the older brother beat him. Add in the stepdad beating him too and it probably almost drove the poor guy crazy as a kid. I really want to punch the damn stepdad in the fricking face repeatedly

Yeah, I'd go spend the night at his house on some weekends, and his brother would come home from going out, and would get pissed at something stupid and just start beating on him. It was sad. But, the stepdad was soon out of the picture and now that everyone is older him and his brother are very close.

Oh did they pull the trigger?

Bullying is a shitty thing but killing yourself is even shittier.

Seriously? Do you think people who commit suicide are thinking "what a terrible thing for me to do?"

They should also be publicly called out and shamed throughout the ordeal and be reminded over and over that they are the reason this girl is dead.

what if this causes one of them to commit suicide?

My brother does not allow my niece and nephew to have social media accounts.

He may be on to something.

Well then they should have backed off this girl to begin with shouldn't they?

Actions can have an equal and opposite reaction.

Social Physics- for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

My stepson is 16 and my wife only allows him to have a cell phone, with texting of course. Nothing else. I never really thought about it much until this thread though.

Oh you think the people that bullied her are not to blame? That's cute.

Talk to them about sexting at an early age. Many bullying cases revolve around nudes being passed around, rivalries with another girl, and relationships that turned sour

I have heard all sorts of rumors about teen group chats and the vile shite that goes on in them.

They are to blame for bullying her absolutely. There are harassment and intimidation laws in place that punish this sort of behavior.

They are not to blame for her of her own free will deciding to shoot herself in the chest in front of her family.

They should. I have personally seen the aftermath of suicide and what it does to the family left behind. It ultimately just made me mad at the person who committed suicide for being so selfish and sad for the family who had to deal with it and go on with life with that baggage. I know that personal situation doesn't translate to every other instance but it shaped how I feel on the issue. I probably need to research it further but it is still something that's hard to think about so I have avoided it.

Although I have to think if this was my little girl they'd be lucky to be able to do that without a police escort.

I am not a very vindictive person, but you are damn right about this.

My sister's high school boyfriend wasn't allowed to have FB or any other social accounts until he graduated high school. I used to think that was ridiculous but am now seriously considering the same rule when my 10 year old first asks for any social account.

If you were referring to fully grown adults, sure - on both counts. Lock the perpetrators up and blame the person that killed themselves.

My suggestion keeps the perpetrators out of jail, but not without inflicting heavy emotional damage. OtOH you're talking a kid in HS that can't rationalize the world around them. Blaming the victim doesn't help anyone here.

Yep, same with me. An older kid bullied me during 4th, 5th, 6th grade. Once I hit middle school I grew and was actually bigger than he was. One day he pissed me off and I landed a haymaker to the side of his jaw and knocked him on his arse. After that he wanted to be friends

Ironically the same guy committed suicide years later - shot himself in the head.
