He’s definitely addicted. Xanax, hydrocodone, OxyContin, adderall, literally any pill he can get his hands on. Text message logs between him and his dealers, he stole money from my wife, and he’s failed every drug test we’ve given him in the last two weeks. So yes, he’s addicted
Keep your shite away from him. He needs money to buy pills.
Take the money away. Or have your wife press charges against him.
Send him to military school for his final year or two of HS. He needs to get away from where he's getting the drugs.
Does he drive? Take the keys if he does.
Your kid is going to die. I have had too many friends die of pills, your son is not superman, he will die.
Let me repeat this, YOUR SON WILL DIE.

It’s called desperation. If you had a seriously addicted teen, you’d understand. He’s fighting for his son’s life and looking for any help or resource he can find.
Your level of compassion shows either your ignorance or your lack of empathy. Either option is very disturbing in this regard.

Where does he get the pills at 16?
Not tryna be an a-hole but when I was 16 I had easier access to ecstasy/Xanax, weed, cocaine, acid, and shrooms than I did alcohol.
Granted I went to high school in Houston, but still. The ease of access would floor most people.

Kid is gonna get a pill laced with fentanyl and he won't have a choice at that point to even try to kick the addiciton. It will be too late.

My other recommendation would be Palmetto in Rayville. I'm not sure what age they start intake at though. It's a 90 day one, plus.
+1 for Palmetto. My dad went there and I know other who’ve gone. Very effective.

How about taking a trip to a coroner and look at dead bodies of teen OD victims? He can see what his actions might lead to. See what a therapist says about that.
I remember watching a video of bad car wreck victims in high school when getting a drivers permit. Scared the shite out of me.
I vividly remember one picture where the guy was speeding on a highway that was still partially under construction. When he lost control, the vehicle hit a pile of long rebar on the side of the road. Long sections of rebar went up through the bottom of the car, through his chest, out his back, and through the seat.
I don’t speed.

Your son in public or private school. Yeah yeah you have some bad kids in private but all the trash is at public school. Horrible environment.

Having said that, I’ve seen YCP work before and a MHP that I trust recommends The Carpenter Shed in Monroe.
I called and talked to the people at the Carpenter Shed. It looks like a great program and they were extremely nice. It's a bit expensive though-$87,000 for 6 months with BCBS picking up $27,000 of the bill. So that's like $10,000 out of pocket per month

He's in an A-rated charter school. There is trash in every school around, but he's in about as good of a public school as you can ask for. We also don't allow him to hang out with the sketchy kids from the school, but that doesn't mean he doesn't mean much, really. He can find whatever he's looking for if he's motivated, and he seems to be.

Unfortunately, I have experienced with what you are dealing with (a teenage niece - whom I am very close to).
Couple of points....
1 - As another poster said, your child will die if he does not get help.
2A - The help you get him cannot be anywhere near his home. While there are several places he can go for treatment in Louisiana (i.e. Palmetto, Woodlake, etc.), but due to his age, he will likely clean up for a little while but once he is back home, he will get right back into drugs.
2B - He does not need to come back home for a few years - if ever. I know this is tough to swallow. He needs to move away. Most good facilities have great sober homes and support networks across the country. For example, the inpatient facility may be in Colorado and their sober living facilities are in California or Maine or xxxx.
4 - If you have BCBS, a lot of facilities will take him but in reality, they are only going to put him through the standard process. If he doesn't want help then there is nothing a standard facility will do for him. If he has underlying psychological issues, many facilities are not equipped to handle those, but they will take him.
My brother made the above mistakes. Did a Louisiana based facility, daughter came back home and went right back on drugs. Did another facility in Florida - same results. Finally did one out of state (east coast) then she did sober living on the west coast and stayed away from Louisiana for 5 years. Came back home and knew she couldn't continue to live here so she moved back.
Praying for you and your family as this is a very tough deal for everyone.

treatment facilities for teens
Been there and done that. Try Caron Recovery in Pennsylvania or Hazelden in Minnesota. Drug rehab facilities are ridiculously expensive. Good luck and I will pray for your son and family.
