It’s not an opportunity gap! It’s just that their families are lazy and don’t work hard!
Now excuse me. I have to go vote for a bill that makes sure my kids’ school district doesn’t have to deal with this.

I've been teaching for 23 years, and don't make near this.
It's cool though. If we don't like it, they'll go get a foreigner to replace us? Yeah, good luck with that in Louisiana.

This is not a new thing, EBR has done it for years.
ETA: within the last 5 years they have sent recruiters to the Philippines looking for teachers.

Damn, I remember how hard foreign professors were to understand in college. That'd suck to have them all the way through school.

Yea I am in the same boat. I will never make that much as a teacher ever.
Yea when the foreigners cant speak English and the students fail even more what will be their excuse then?

Surprisingly, Alabama is good for teacher pay. My wife currently makes $58k at a public elementary school. 12 years experience.

When one counts the benefits, time off, and defined benefit retirement plan teachers are over $100k per year in real wages with almost zero risk of getting fired.
New hires should all get a 401k like everyone else and wages should be raised to reflect the true market price.

Despite what teachers believe that they are worth, they are easily replaceable.
Their profession is not exclusive or taxing to enter. It is not selective.
This isn’t a good quality for one of the most important professions out there, but it is a result of the moronic way our education system is built.

America, where education for the future members of our society gets sold to to lowest bidder.

It's not 100k, but I'd ball park it in the 65-75 range.

But it should be.
The only ones hurt by this shite are the ones who have done nothing: the kids.
