So to be clear, he wasn't arrested for simple clapping, he and others were disrupting the meeting (as these types are want to do) they were warned to stop being disruptive with their "clapping". Not too hard to imagine the type of behavior it takes for someone to be warned about their "clapping".
These stories are never what the catchy titles make them seem to be.

Yes, a shite ton more. There are a lot of permanent jobs and tax revenue.
I am no fan of Landry. However, there is going to be economic stimulus from this. Entergy alone will be building 10 NG generation plants to accommodate. Those will need to be staffed. Now, we aren't talking thousands of permeant jobs from that either, but jobs that didn't exist. Along with those plants, there will transmission upgrades and unknown numbers of substations. Entergy will have to staff up for that too. There will be economic growth that will come with all of this too, but it will take a few years to manifest.

The marketing company spreading the " OMG what happens if we fall behind China" scare should focus on data center negotiations being less shrouded in secrecy so communities can see what safeguards are actually in place.
That's what makes people so sure they're being fleeced in deals where a few shareholders in NYC make record profits, a few local big cats make millions and move to Florida to spend their money and the local communities are left holding the bag for future expenses.

How much of the fears about data centers is being drummed up by propaganda coming from China in order to retard the US? One has to wonder.
This is basically the argument I made here many times about EVs. China made sure it was a contentious issue in the US and allowed them to take control of the market. The global projected market for EVs in 2025 will likely hit 30% of the new car market this year and China now has 60% of that market. The US had a serious competitive advantage in the massive global market and we gave it away because we took our eye off the ball. We are in the same position in AI, and whoever is controlling the narrative gets their way we will lose our advantage in a second massive global market.
If we continue to let social media and unknown actors drive our opinions, we will allow AI to be run by Baidu et al instead of Alphabet et al just like BYD will own the EV market instead of Tesla.
