I listened to her music recently as a favor to a friend. Gave her a fair shot. My takeaways:

1. I like that champagne song
2. I’m now depressed and wondering how she hasn’t offed herself
3. I now see why the world is so happy she is dating that football dude; they probably thought she was going to down some pills with a bottle of wine on the toilet soon
4. If they break up, I am expecting a new album about it
5. I’ve never heard any of these songs

I gave a few of her songs a listen as well.

She basically sets her diary to music. That's it.

There wasn't one song that I thought, "Wow. That's great. Let's play it again."

Definitely a reasonable choice. She is generating so much activity worldwide. And she isn’t an obnoxious douche.

Ah yes the yearly thread where everyone thinks Times picks the person they think is the best and its a flattery award. The criteria is actually "Person of the Year is an annual issue of the American news magazine and website Time featuring a person, a group, idea, or object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year"

I wouldn't kick her out of bed, but I don't think I would go as far as to say "hot" either.
and I don't think these pics do her any justice. she looks a lot better in videos and commercials than these pics.
