Surfing website Stab Mag, which described the surfer as an "icon" of the sport and a noted pipeline specialist, said Perry was discovered with an arm and a leg missing after the shark chewed off two of his limbs. This is thought to be the first time a professional surfer has been mauled to death by a shark.

Really sad and crazy way to go. Was a really nice guy

Lets face it. The sharks are fighting back. They want their ocean back

Don’t really know who he is, but it’s sad for him and his family.

It’s true. Seen more sharks last year and this year than any other time. Hate em.

I’ve had a dozen trout beheaded while reeling them in, but 2 weeks ago I had a bull hit my largest trout on a topwater at the net against the boat fishing the surf

Not true. We haven't broken 50 attacks in almost a decade. We broke 50 attacks multiple times in the 2010s.

That shark made it from 30A to Hawaii in less than 10 days, pretty impressive

Has there ever been or does anyone know of a shark attack in the Louisiana marsh or South Louisiana coastline? Not many people actually go into the gulf, but a lot of people from LA go to the marsh and in it. I had to last week to push my boat out of a flat bottom near Dularge.

Sharks don't go past Orange Beach. Sharks are enjoying their protective status. Last thing they need is the optics of a Great White feeding on the Mississippi beaches.

Bullsharks will swim up rivers. I think the Miss has them

A family member made the report after the boaters' did not return from a fishing trip Saturday evening.

I tell you what, some stupid shark beheads my caught trout and I’m putting on my fish costume and tricking that sucker into a one on one.

There have been many trout stringers attacked at Chandeleur (the line that caught trout are strung through after catching, which is essentially tied around your waist). I’ve always kept mine at 8-10 feet away/long, but it’s creepy af when a shark tail brushes against you or you start feeling that rope tug.

1. Drowning
2. Shark attack
3. Boat drifting with no power and no phone.
4. Stingray

438. Starfish latching onto my mouth and nose and I suffocate.

100% so sick of those mfers, they are now worse then dolphins.

With so much protection for sharks they are now having overwhelming type numbers and ppl are bound to get mauled.

I every diver should just start power heading any shark getting within arm’s reach until numbers get back down.
