That’s probably the best power train ford has offered in years. But the price seems steep to me. I bought a 24 lariat last year with 9k miles for 52.5. My father in law has a 2006 with the 4.6 with over 200k on it. Has done nothing but tires and oil changes. Maybe look for an older 4.6 if you lookin for something a little cheaper.

46K for a 10-year-old truck is crazy, and paying a 3-5-year note on one is nuts. You didn’t mention if you’d take on a note, but since you’re buying something that old, I’m guessing that is your plan.

I could pay cash but I’m earning almost 10% in my cash account and can probably get a loan from my credit union for around 5% so it make sense to finance and draft payments from that account.

For another 15k you can get a 2026 GMC 1500 with the SLT PACKAGE which has leather and everything else in it.

Keep in mind, all accidents and paintwork don't show up on Carfax.
Give it a good lookover, during the day, just to be sure. Look down the sides, door closures, etc.
Be sure the sunroof opens and closes smoothly, very important.

And, what cash account you using?

This is your issue. No one cares what you drive.

16 was the last year with the 6 speed. You won't find one that's not ragged out with high mileage for under 30k. I've had a price watch set for about 2 years after my 16 f-150 got totaled. You can buy a 23 for equal or less now.

Excellent. Ask yourself a couple questions:

Will you be earning 10% for the lifetime of your payments on the truck?

I was thinking more like 7% on the ten year old truck. Either way, find out what the interest rate is on a new truck and then understand how much of your payments go to interest on each. There is an equilibrium of payments on new vs old and probably a potential to buy a >$46k new truck for the same monthly spend.

Bought a 11 Silverado with 169000 miles in 22. Good shape, outside and inside. Z71 with 5.8. Bought it for 16990.00 paid cash. Two years later motor craps out. Bought a new motor from Auto Zone for 4500.00 and paid to have it installed for 2500.00 So now I have a used truck for 24000.00 with a new engine.

And those rare situations that actually truly require the unique specifications of a truck? Rent one. The small rental fee is gonna be a lot less than you'd spend on that truck note every month not to use it.

You can rent a truck from U-Haul for like $20 when you need one. It’s very easy. And a lot cheaper than $46k. But baws feel emasculated if they don’t drive a truck

I'll sell you my 2003 Silverado for 8 grand. You might not look great riding around town, but you will have a truck and saved a ton of money.

If you want a truck, get a truck. Don’t listen to these idiots.

60% Fidelity MM and 40% split between Growth and Value ETF’s. Obviously that return could change on a dime but thus far it’s close to 10% with minimal risk and I’ll pull the plug on the ETFs if needed as this is the go to cash fund.

I know but a used Lariat with one owner and low miles is fricking expensive now and you have all types of problems depending on year, engine, tranny, etc.

So you don’t have any?

It’s ok to want a truck, to want a nice truck. Stop being a cheap arse and buy one.

I wasn’t trying to be a douchebag to you. If you haven’t had to rent or borrow a truck for those situations where “when you need a truck you need a truck” they don’t exist. I drive a truck and rarely use its truck functions. I am rural and do need to take my trash to the dump. I do occasionally haul some wood. About once a year the 4 wheel drive is handy. But most people, including me don’t need the feature filled truck they drive.

As another 50 year old who has always been cheap about vehicles, go buy you the truck you always wanted, your time here on earth is limited and it won’t matter in the end.

I’ve been driving a used Japanese sedans for 30 years and milking them to 250k miles. I’m in my 50’s and have only owned 6 cars since I was 16. I know about getting value out of a vehicle.

Don’t piss on my party.

Heavily used.

I would get a new or newish XLT for the same price or a little more. It won’t have fancy seats (that probably show wear) but will have much more features that likely weren’t available 10 years ago. And factory warranty
