The unbolded part you quoted is what makes it make sense. I guess I should say I'd be home more often. Two week trips instead of two month trips away from home.

Well then without knowing the specifics, if it were me, I'd probably do it. Long-term happiness is priceless as long as you can pay your bills and save for retirement.

No one has pointed out that this sentence doesn't make sense?

It makes sense. He's talking about being with family every two weeks instead of being gone for half a year in one stretch. That's something I wouldn't do

I'm sure you've heard of the company Roger. I think it's one of the biggest Alaskan based companies. Multi-modal transportation outfit. I'd be flying civilian C-130s.

I have learned the hard way through decades of career work that money and high stress jobs suck.

Go with the dream job and don’t look back. Life is too damn short.

You can't get back time with kids or make up birthdays, holidays, life events.

Its not a monetary amount, but it's worth everything in the long run.

No. It's two week blocks vs two month blocks. I don't even know that the former is better. I'd argue two months is better. And even if you think two weeks is better, is it 40% pay cut better? I don't see it.

More susceptible to layoff, 40% pay cut is this really a question. Shut the frick up, pit you head down and grind to retirement. You retire 5 years earlier in job one than job two baw

One of my dream job standards would include a 40% increase in pay... not the other way around. You are doing this wrong.

40% is steep, but if you have enough to meet your financial goals either way, you should give it hard consideration.

They operate on all seven continents. Some of the stuff is on skis I believe. Do some firefighting and oil spill work too I believe. And they actually do still have FEs haha.
