Private at a school at KARA.
Then ATP in Houston up to CFII.
Then hopefully CFI somewhere around Louisiana if I can’t get an instructor gig with ATP in TX.
Chasing 1500 then Envoy or Skywest.

40% would probably force me to sell all my cool shite, but I'd get to fly F22's. Yes absolutely no doubt. I'll sell every fricking thing I own. I wanna go fast and blow up shite.

I know it’s changed a ton but what’s your opinion on them? My goal is strictly the regionals with a flow to a major. It seems they are purpose built for this.

Thats exactly what they are. A pilot factory for the regionals. I enjoyed my time there. Of course I went in my early 20’s to Jax beach. It was like college without the bullshite.

Do it. This is the thing I wish I had done.

Find a way to make more money (doing the thing you love) 2, 3, 4 years down the road.

Don’t take the job. Look at how people are spending today and how they are living way above their means. Economy is great now but history says it will slide back down in a few years.

I quit my dream job making half what I do now, because the pay was so low. I'd go back if I won the lottery, but happiness doesn't buy me drinks at the bar. Cutting your income back that much makes life much harder

What really makes it your dream?

Do those qualities stick around through the career arc or are you giving up a ton of money to quickly be in the same situation later?

You mentioned travel and also being home both are important... do you actually hit a balance or does that break sooner than later?

Can the extra 40% finance vacations to some of these spots with the family instead of working?

What is the downside to the dream job besides pay? Odds are something isn’t roses and sunshine.

I had a chance to take my dream job but it was about the same, but when I looked at my wife and kids and saw how happy they are with the lifestyle we live now I didnt do it. I made my sacrifice and I regret it constantly but it is what it is.

I was working like 80hrs/week, and there was never a time I didn't want to go do my job. I didn't even mind doing the paperwork

An important question that you and your wife need to answer is can y'all afford a 40% reduction to your income?

If yes and y'all are committed to making it work then I say go for it. If no, then it may not be an option right now. But if it's important to you then yall might be able to make it work.

If you were happy, maybe you wouldn't need so many drinks at the bar.

We can afford it in the sense that we wouldn't have to downgrade our house or cars but we'd have to cut back on vacations and probably put off buying a bigger house for a few years.

1. Would be home with family more. Currently spend about 6 months per year overseas. New job would still have me gone just as much but in two week blocks as opposed to 2 month blocks.

No one has pointed out that this sentence doesn't make sense?

You'd be trading 40% of your salary and not gain any time with your family? Even for a dream ob, is that really ideal?
If you said new job would have you at home all the time, that'd be a tougher decision to make
