Sounds like a bad thing.

Not everybody finds somebody. It's a sad fact of life.

my attitude has changed over time. When I was younger, it was fun and made sense to have as many relationships as I could handle. Life goes on and the satisfaction I get from my family is enormous now that I’m older and settled in.
And your children are what make it all worthwhile.

Just my experience.

It was foreshadowing by Hart to his family implosion, plus was a nod to his supreme arrogance.

Like someone else said...Marty ended up eating tv dinners alone because he couldn't keep his "big arse dick" in his pants...which begs the question..is it worse to have a family and shite all over its meaning with affairs and neglect, or to recognize you aren't the type of man that can function within the restraints of family life?

Either way, that season 1 was a joy to watch.

Back in my younger years I knew several women that was past 50, never married, no kids and they all seemed to be content.

Marty says a lot of things that make him sound like a good family man. But obviously he wasn't. I think the irony was intentional.

Of course it was.. but someone who’s only on the first ep, like the OP, wouldnt yet know that.

Yeah, but i think you’re a little confused.. if you haven’t seen the show, the character i was talking about in the last episode is a different character than the one the OP was describing in the first episode.. hence the irony of the quote in the original post.

God, I hope I’m not still posting on TD at 97.

It was an old Aim instant messenger name bc for whatever reason, it would not let me have 1987 and suggested 1922 so I just went with it

Definitely a stimga here in MS.. that there is something " wrong " with you if you are not married by 25 at the most.

It's so fricked up because everyone is so concerned with graduating college at 22 and marrying at 23 and having babies ASAP that most never get to live and enjoy being a married couple before the kids come

The whole point of that quote and others like it by Marty was to illustrate that he thought he had it all figured out but at that point in time was mostly full of shite and throwing stones from a glass house at Rust.

Uh, no. That's not strange at all.

Its beyond strange

No one wants a 35 year old hanging out with the college crowd (unless theyre paying for shite). They come across as pervs

If you don't have a wife by 30, EVERYONE has questions about you behind your back. Especially your own family. Trust me. Just ask them. And its not just a 'southern' thing either
