Have an uncle that said he would swim across false river with his clothes in a milk jug to keep them dry. Put em on when he crossed and go to work.

I've swam across False River. I didn't have clothes in a milk jug and go to work on the other side, though.

Sure. Did it all the time. It makes you really good at skiing because you don’t want to fall and also get up out the water quickly.

Gator population has bounced back over the years. I would not swim in any south of I-10 in LA.

Swimming in a Bayou
. I did it when I was a teenager back in the 80’s. didn’t think twice about it, of course back then it was not very often you would see a gator. There is no freaking way I would do that now.

We always thought it was weird when we saw people swimming in Bayou St. John.

Bayou Raccourci, Lake Mechant, Bonne Carre Spillway, Lake Pontchartrain- good times. Had lookout for nearby gator. If he went under we’d get out until he came back up where we could see him.

I remember going fishing the marsh in Chauvin. We finished, and were cleaning our fish on a dock next to the bayou. Bull reds. We were gutting them and fileting them and dropping it all in the bayou. There was a little floating camp next to us. They had 2 little kids. They were in the bayou with life jackets on, floating.

They were slap dab in the middle of where all the guts and carcasses were flowing. And parents were outside and dgaf.

Think about how nasty the guts are and what kind of crap they were soaking in. Not to mention, what kinda shite was underneath eating it, and could have easily bit into the children. They were all clueless.

I'll never forget that.
