Like others have said, it's an addiction. Probably has a lot to do with totally fricked up body image, vanity issues. Basically the bro male equivalent of an eating disorder.

Dude is probably super competitive, not very intelligent, and really self conscious. And probably a few other things. He has that, "I randomly hurt smaller people to make myself feel better" look.

No safety needs arms like that.
No position on the football field would benefit from arms like that outside of the DL and OL.
