It's a shame that there are so many loonies there, because it is the most beautiful city in the US, IMO.

It's up there, for sure. On a clear day, it's hard to beat how scenic views of the bay and bridge and Pacific are. The weather is amazing most of the year, scores of great restaurants, just a fantastic area....minus the large amount of deranged folks

Hiking the Lands End trails never gets old.

This is, typically, the warmest time of the year in San Francisco.

Back in August 2016, I left where I was staying at the time in Fremont, where it was hovering around 90 deg and bright and sunny, and drove into SF to catch up with a buddy of mine from Baton Rouge who moved there in 03.

He and his old lady live at the top of Pacheco St. I got there and the temp gauge was reading 54 deg and it was overcast and grey. I got out and went what the frick? My bud came out to get me and mentioned that he should have told me to bring a jacket. Like, no shite, lol. I was freezing in shorts and a thin t shirt.

Blew my mind.

Mark Twain famously said that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco

It's generally pretty good weather there but depending on what part of the city you are in, it can be chilly. I always have a long sleeve that I put 9n and take off depending on where I am. The bridge weather can me 180 from the weather in the Haight.

This thread made me go down the rabbit hole of GGB suicides. A man, in 1993, murdered his wife, then went to the bridge, threw his 3 year old daughter off, then jumped.

Picture was taken in August. It is summer in August in the Bay Area.

Not even sure what the point of the original post or photo is. If it’s a shot at San Fran because it’s sixty degrees in August then that’s a wild take to have.

Come spend a 7 month summer in the gulf coast where it hits 85 every day and then complain about getting a 60 degree day in August

I never knew about "microclimates" until the first time I went to SF. It's a trip. I remember walking about 10 blocks and going from perfectly fine to freezing my arse off. I learned to always carry a jacket in SF.

Having said that, I'll take the weather out there over weather in south Louisiana about 9 months or more out of the year.

We went to SF once in August too, froze our asses off.

Drive to Carmel, 73 degrees and beautiful. Drive back into SF and it’s 50 and windy

When I was in San Fran in June of this year, I thought the city itself sucked. A couple of decent neighborhoods but a lot of boring neighborhoods or just dirty crap without much life.

The Bay Area itself is much better and obviously has some fantastic areas.

There are a lot of bland and crappy parts of SF. I've never been impressed by the usual touristy places like Fisherman's Wharf, the Financial District, the Embarcadero, etc.

But on the other hand, neighborhoods like Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Chinatown, Japantown, and areas around the Presidio are terrific IMO...just to name a few.

I used to work in the Financial District in the City (SF). There would be days when the temperature in SF would be in the low 60s and the temperature in Concord, which was approximately 30 miles away, would be in the low 90s.
