If staying under $200, go for used Allen Edmonds on eBay. Can get great deals on park avenues.

Allen Edmonds has a sale right now. They’ll last you 5 times as long as mall brands like J&M.

Out of curiosity, in what ways?

Speaking as a man who has to knock the dust off my dress shoes when it comes time to wear them a $50 pair will probably last me a lifetime.

Just let the wife pick some out.

You are right. CH and JM use glued soles and fake stitching. Cobbler showed me how Ch uses a paper welt now.

Depending on how brown the other shoes are, look at Oxblood or a similar color. Black is a lot less versatile than I thought it was 20 years ago. It screws up dark grey and navy suits.

Get you some Allen Edmonds made out of Cordovan Leather. They will last you a lifetime with a nice shine. Plus the leather comes from a horse’s arse.

Allen Edmonds are great shoes. Just don’t get the light brown lace ups with white soles that all your friends are wearing. They look retarded.

This can't be stated enough. Dress sneakers should not be a thing, they are an atrocity.

How is that? Easiest combo in the world is black shoes with a dark grey or navy suit.

I got a pair of Amberjacks a month or so ago and they’ve been great for multiple wears a week.

Don’t understand the fascination with Edmunds. No style with the rounded off features. However, each is own.
