Or more obviously, how do you explain why it’s easier to be skinny in your 20s than in your 40s? I can’t imagine what I’d look like these days if I ate Canes like I did back in college. But according to calories in/calories out, there shouldn’t be any difference.

It seems your fundamentally misunderstand the calorie in/out model. There are many variables that affect both the in and the out. No two people are going to have the exact same metabolism but that doesn't make calories in/out wrong, it just means everyone's inputs are individualized.

2) It impacts hormone levels bc of effect on blood sugar, which causes many problems, hormonal weight gain being one fo them. HUGE topic here.

Link? What is hormonal weight gain and how is it different than gaining weight because you're in a caloric surplus?

3) Sugar is a short term fix for hunger, unlike actual fat. So if you're taking in calories from sugar, you're going to remain hungry and seek more food.

Yeah, and?

None of this negates calories in/out.

i attempted to remove all sugar from my diet and introduced tons of aspartame.. Through process of elimination, it’s been determined that aspartame was *most likely* the culprit, though not 100%.. but plenty of other people have had far more adverse effects than i’ve had, so i encourage you to do some research, if you’re so inclined.

Research what? You dont even know the cause of your problems

Where in my post did i say that aspartame makes us fat? I said it’s DANGEROUS.

It's been proven safe many times over. Stop fearmongering, it's counterproductive.

When my mom had cancer, her Dr at MDA told if she had to drink a soft drink, never drink Diet Coke (as she has every day for years) but instead drink regular coke. However, she recommended water over all soft drinks.

No it's not.

Jesus Christ.

We're making the same mistake over again, except instead of demonizing fat were demonizing sugar and carbs.

Dude. The gym bros and gym bunnies who flash their arse for instafame are obviously smarter. Sugar is the debil. Eat until your heart’s desire. If you follow my program, I promise you’ll look like me AND live a life of indulgence.*

*May or may not be juicing.

No you should read up. All you dumbass people that blame sugar for everything,

Do me one favor.....get your fatass on Google scholar and link me one study that shows a faster rate of fatloss for a low carb diet vs isocaloric when calories and protein are equated. Just one study......just a hint, there is not one. Over two dozen, Showing the body fat loss is the same though. Again when calories and protein are equated.

All the fat people or skinny fat people blame sugar and it's bullshite.

And to all five that replied with smartass remarks, before you reply to someone like that, better know what you are talking and that the person you are being a smartass to doesn't

Keto is a fine tool to use for fatloss, I use it myself quite often, but it is just a tool and you are losing bodyfat because your are in a caloric deficit, period.

The only macro that can allow you to eat more and is very hard to store as bodyfat is protein because the dietary induced thermogenesis is close to a 25% average in protein. Fat is the easiest macro to store as bodyfat by a long margin and has by far the lowest dietary induced thermogenesis at less than 5%.

As far as sugar being addicting, STFU with that. Just because it stimulates the portion of the brain that drugs do, doesn't mean it is addicting. People aren't out sucking dick for sugar. If it is so addicting then why does almost every home in America have a big bag of uneaten sugar in it? Why aren't people pouring the straight sugar down their throats or walking around with jars of honey sipping on it?

I am not saying sugar is healthy either. What I am saying is 80% of the health benefits one gets from a diet is from the fatloss itself.

Can low carb be used to help people with certain health issues... absolutely. But it's not a one size fits all. Some people are hyper responders to fat and it's messes their blood work up big time.

Can low carb be used to lose massive amounts of bodyfat...yep. requires consistently being in a caloric deficit and staying consistent with it. But you are losing bodyfat because of the caloric deficit period.

If you like eating keto, fricking do it, but don't claim it's a end all be all diet. If you feel like you were addicted to sugar and now are free.....good, but don't compare your so called sugar addiction to a cocaine addiction either. Don't insult booger sugar like that!!!

Because your fat arse doesn't move around and do shite. Your Non exercise induced thermogenesis is miniscule compared to then.

20 years ago you weren't sitting around at a desk all day, having food delivered to you at the push of a button and you shopping while laying in bed. You stayed skinny because you had to walk and get those things. Now you sit around like a bump on a log, that's why.

I'm drinking 3-4 carbonated soft drinks a day, sugar and HFCS sweetened, none of that fake sweet mess. I weigh exactly the same today at age 55 as when I graduated HS at 17. Wear the same size jeans too.

Since Dad died and I am taking care of Mom on her schedule I eat 3 squares a day plus coffee and cake around 2pm and a bedtime snack around 10:30pm. Caloricly (calorically?) I am consuming more than my bachelors schedule of 1 big meal/day and a pot of coffee then maybe 1-2 carbonated or booze drinks. Bachelors diet=gain weight, Mom's daily grazing = lose weight.

Jesus, about a million studies show that grazing all day doesn't increase metabolism. You are losing weight because you are not eating as many calories.

Do you frickers even read studies or do you just believe everything that is posted on social media or on the website you like?

In my "old age", I avoid sugar and salt as much as I can. I realize that unless I totally manage all of my food, etc. this is nearly an impossible task.

There are sugars other than sucrose. What does the "F" in your HFCS acronym represent?

HFCS being the primary culprit.

I read a study once that showed a correlation between the rise in childhood obesity and the rise in the use of HFCS. It didn't conclude it was the cause because there were other factors involved(reduction in PE and recess time in schools was one factor cited) but it was interesting nonetheless. It also talked about how our bodies don't process HFCS as efficiently as sugar.

I do think American diets are too carbohydrate centric. It was amazing how much better I felt after I cut a lot of carbs out of my diet.

I agree with most of your post, except this part. Sugar is addicting, though not on the level of drugs. Cigarettes are addicting and people aren't sucking dick for a smoke because they're relatively easy to obtain. Sugar is cheap and easily available so there's no need to suck dick for it, nor is it really necessary to dump the bag down your throat because you can get your fix pretty easily just eating something from the pantry.

If you've done the Keto diet and suffered keto flu, that is sugar withdrawal. And when I say sugar, I mean it generally to include all sugars in foods, not just table sugar.

That said, while it is addicting, it is also a necessary thing for our bodies. Everything in moderation though.

Sugar, especially shite-arse industrial level cane sugar, destroys your body on many levels.

And it does make you fat.

Most anyone who's consuming large amounts of sugar like this IS FOR SURE ALSO EATING OTHER STUPID shite and eating excess calories.

Quit avoiding the internal crisis of the fact you shouldn't be eating much cane sugar.

Got any proof in the form of scientific studies on that? I do, but I wanna see yours first. Not saying eating a hell of a ton of sugar is good for you, but it does not cause fat gain unless you are eating in a caloric surplus.

Also there are a couple studies that show high sugar intake % of overall carbohydrate % does not cause health issue in otherwise healthy adults.

Also studies showing hcfs is no different than cane sugar when it comes to it being detrimental to health.

I understand what keto flu is and it's not your body ridding an addiction, it is caused by the bodies switching to ketones as it's primary source of fuel.

And it's not the sugar people are addicted to. And it's not a physical addiction. It's a mental addiction and an addiction to the brain response. And if it's sugar they are addicted to, then why do most people go directly for foods laced with sugar and fats????

It's because people like the taste of those foods. It's not an addiction.

Again I just posted screen shots of about a dozen conclusions of studies on this topic and everything shows calories are the issue, sugar in and of itself is not addicting and that keto diet does not cause a faster rate of body fat loss.

Read the studies.
