we currently have a 2010 Subaru Legacy with 200,000 miles and going strong and 2019 Subaru Outback with 110,00 miles and runnings great as well.
I also drove a GMC to 140k and my dad then drove it to over 200k. Then I had an other GMC with the crap interchangeable displacement, and while that sucked I drove it to 130k with no issues. On a Ford to 120k now, no issues..... So what does my anecdotal evidence say?

My career military Army Ranger Airborne hard-arse father in law and his wife both have Subarus. My kid bought a Subaru from them.

I have no interest in the brand, but they seem pretty reliable to me?

Their CVT transmissions in the 2020-2022 Ascents are complete junk.

Ours went into their shop with tranny issues starting at about 40k miles and completely went out at 78k.

But to Subaru’s credit, they replaced it with a new, upgraded transmission at no cost. The dealership in BR was super nice about it all too.

Other than that, no complaints.

My Escalade has been great since I put a new engine at 30 k miles.

I would have a hard time buying a rivian or any car that doesn’t have a dealership that I can rely on when something goes wrong.

Pretty surprised to see so much room between Audi and Volkswagon. I thought VW would be higher and Audi a bit lower but definitely closer together

Not hating on Subaru but I call BS. I’ve only been around a couple of them in my adult life and they’ve all been maintenance nightmares with engine issues being the common theme.

I drive a 2016 Forester and don’t think I would buy another due to how many wheel assembly/suspension issues I’ve had. 130,000 and no engine or transmission issues, but I’ve spent too many thousands getting various issues fixed (control arms, wheel bearings, etc). I’ve liked the car otherwise, but I would expect a car marketed as an all terrain type car to not have so many issues from normal day to day driving. Apparently the control arm and wheel bearing issues are common in the Foresters due to their ground clearance.

I’m sure I could figure out how to change the wheel bearings on my own and save money but that’s not the point.

So if you're not a dirty rugmuncher get a Lexus, Toyota, Honda or Acura...

The Ascent models, yes. There was/is a class action lawsuit and settlement on the Ascents for certain years.

Don’t believe there are tranny issues with other models though.
Other than the tranny, our Subaru has been a great car.
Near 100k miles on it now.

Right.. they are amazing cars, unbelievable fit, finish and performance. But 600 oil changes alone are rough.

Also, we have an outback. Great vehicle overall but not even remotely close to German finish.

McLaren versus Toyota…

quote:

Investigators say a McLaren and a Toyota Corolla collided. The McLaren hit a tree, splitting it in half and killing the two men inside.

The gold Toyota sedan also struck a tree and sustained heavy front-end damage. Its driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the outlet reported.
