Students: Going out of state for a few months for work -- scary?

I hire guys for full time work in the summer, and the job typically requires a temporary move. I mostly deal with students because of the seasonal nature, and older folks typically have deeper roots. It might be a generational thing, but students now days flake out about the travel aspect, even though all expenses are paid. The ones I keep locally are beating down the door to get the job, and every guy I offered from last year is returning this year so I know it's a great job with great pay.

I provide housing(nice apartment), utilities, vehicle, gas, and $3k-5k per month... and the travel to and from the location is covered as well. For example: fly to North Carolina and work for a few months, then fly home.

Is travel scary to students now? Is it generational and the 20-25yo age group a bunch of pussies, or is it something else? Is not being at home near seen as too much of a hassle now, even for a few months?


I lived in a different state almost every summer during college, filled the bank account, and went back to school. It was fun to see different parts of the country, and my jobs didn't even pay for the travel
