They started the student loan mess by backing a ton of them without restrictions on interest rates or fees/tuition increases. This is a good thing, but far too late imo.

Admitting giving student loans to 18 year olds is a bad idea and dropping the interest to 1 or 2% and changing up how folks qualify to receive them would be a good compromise on the loan forgiveness shite.

Student loan interest rates should be 1%.

I’m sure some will, but this doesn’t bother me.
I’d rather they find a way to give borrowers a break while still requiring them pay something back.

So we want intelligent educated individuals for US jobs. But we charge 5+% interest on loans for graduate degrees. Then import thousand of H1-B visa fricks.

You don't have to go to Syracuse, which now charges 300k for degrees undergrad $69k a year for tuition alone. See the thread about degree ROI that was recently posted.
You can argue with the other idiot about how we need classical philosophical education (available for free at Khan Academy, in libraries, and on books that are not copyrighted) or whether we need 6 figures of debt for lazy rivers or the $1k worth of audio books could teach you is better.
People that loan 17 and 18 year olds money for cars in basic training charge appropriate interest rates for people with poor judgement. Yet, student loans do not.

Thanks for sharing. We helped a grandkid with tuition and got insight into how expensive it is. The amount of interest charged by the major companies doing student loans is too high. Offering students low interest rates is better than forgiving loans.
