You still had real cartoons on saturday morning

On the one hand I think my kids have it good in that they have multiple channels of cartoons available 24/7 both at home and on the go.

But on the other hand they don't know the joy and excitement of getting to wake up to Saturday morning cartoons like we did back then.

But for the average person then, crime did not seem as bad. And in fact to many who, like me, lived through that time, crime seems (key word there) worse now due the fact that many areas which were prosperous and thriving neighborhoods them are now crime infested shitholes.

what about all the former shitholes that are now prosperous?

like, NYC

perhaps we overrate this due to personal bias in remembering what was good about a good time in our lives (childhood)?

The 80's was the greatest decade. The best music & the best movies. In the 80's our main enemy was the Soviet Union. Now our enemies are each other. We have been divided & conquered.

Probably. Kids born today will do the same in 25 years.

However, as an individual those days rocked.

I will say finishing high school in early 80's and being at LSU through the mid 80's was spectacular. Just a glorious decade to come of age in.

Yep, prudish world we live in. People bitch and complain about everyone they don't understand. Kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore, they get arrested or ticketed for shite that didn't bother people a few decades ago.

The 80s were a great time to be 1 to 11 years old but that's all I can speak on. Some great movies and music but not a fan of the fashion.

Let's not forget growing up in the 80s and the Saturday morning programming

Muppet Babies
Smurfs
Duck Tails
Pee Wees Playhouse
Fraggle Rock

Saved by the bell
NBA inside stuff

Then you had Nickolodean

Double Dare
Hey Dude
You can't watch that on television
What would you do

Throw in a bowl or 4 of your favorite sugar loaded cereal, and you had a pretty damn good time

I was born in 75' so only experienced the end of the 80's, still feel a little robbed. 80's were the best. Roaring 20's probably only thing close.

The music blew, those clothes blew harder, but the movies were pretty good

The 1980's couldn't have a more polar opposite decade than the roaring 20's

I agree. I was 10-19 in the 80s and 20-29 in the 90s so I lived through them both. The 80s was a better time by far. And both the 80s & 90s were both better than anything since 2000.

I have to agree, also. I was 12 at the start of 1980 and 22 by the end of 89.
