I guarantee you I'll be in SELA helping out someone at some point just like I was in SWLA even though they will get way more assistance than SWLA did, simply because of NOLA

A sad, but true political fact.

But why does that have to be the case? Why did part of our state have to be destroyed by another historic storm for another part to get the assistance it's needed for a year?

ummm....ask the federal governmnet. As much as I love Rand Paul, he was the one that held up the last bill on it.

but both republicans and democrats fricked that one up

It sure looked like it. Hell, it could have been floating at the point that happened.

Looking closer, it did float in along with another car.

My girlfriends dad is about to get on a plane and headed straight for port Fourchon to check on his camp. I’ll post the pictures when I get them.

I don't care what anybody says. Having lived through Laura/Delta aftermath, the Fed and State have done little to nothing for this area.

All immediate assistance was brought through private or non-profit disaster assistance. I'm pretty sure that Bill Graham truck fed people for a solid 4 months.

I have nothing but contempt for the federal government and their disaster relief assistance. The state isn't much better. The only ones they seem to help are the indigent that never could provid for themselves in the first place.

They only "care" about high population centers, where dare I say, their "voters" reside. I'll just say it...poor democrats. Regular hardworking tax payers get the shaft.

Now you say we may finally get federal money in LC? Wow. And all it took was a separate disaster to New Orleans to fold into ours to do it.

I blame JBE for this, squarely. He didn't give two craps about LC because there were no votes to be had.

That's just the plain truth.

A plane that left BTR around 11 and flew to LaPlace, Golden Meadow and the northshore is about to land back at BTR. Should be getting some pictures in soon.

It better be on chopper and not plane. He’s not getting into that Parish for 72 hours. They are letting NOONE in. Take it from someone with an emergency pass on my dashboard to get over the bridge. Just trying to warn you before he gets there with nowhere to go, bro.

Wow, that is incredible. Louisiana is so unique in how you can have major storm surge so far away from the actual Gulf itself. It really is a complex state in terms of its geography.

For this reason, I'm surprised one of these inexperienced storm chasers hasn't gotten themselves in serious trouble over the last two years. It almost happened in Delta with the puppet guy. In many coastal towns of other states, just heads the opposite direction of the coast and you will be okay sooner rather than later. Here in LA, you never know for sure.
