I understand your frustration. But if you include Katrina these were four different storms. All bad. Probably bc Ida just sat on us and didn’t lose a lot of power. Just spit balling man, I don’t know…but I definitely understand the frustration. Living in Southern Louisiana we all get it. Not really worth having a duck measuring contest over it. Know what I mean? Just help whoever needs it, brother

Four different storms or not, every one of them ravaged a part of this state. But it appears that 2 of them will now be overshadowed by the other 2 simply because of the region they hit.

I'm not trying to have a "duck" measuring contest (idk if that is an autocorrect that keeps happening, but as a biologist, I find this funny as shite), nor do I want to take attention off of what is going on right now, but it's just bullshite that the same shite other people went through is almost being ignored now because they don't live in the "right" part of the state. Like it didn't happen.

I guarantee you I'll be in SELA helping out someone at some point just like I was in SWLA even though they will get way more assistance than SWLA did, simply because of NOLA.

no need for a pissing contest

laura and ida are sister storms just like katrina and rita were.

This makes sense. I’m actually in Lake Charles. Evacuated here. People have been nothing but understanding and supportive. No one has been resentive. Except for one cop who I asked where a gas station was. He was a real prick. Hope his dog bites him.

But your theory makes sense and hopefully everyone from Lake Charles to Venice gets a piece of the federal pie.

I heard plenty of "donate to support those in Louisiana affected by Katrina AND Rita."

Being from the MS Gulf Coast that always chapped my arse a bit because we lost everything in Katrina. I knew all of my shite was likely gone before the levees even broke. At the end of it all, we still got the help we needed.

This should be the end of the argument.. I think everyone agrees with this statement.

I mean does it really surprise you that an area with more people and places like Port Fouchon and Port of Orleans got more attention?

With all due respect. Who gives a shite what people think. People in this state who truly understand hurricanes, their impact, and the resources needed to fix the shite know Laura was one bad bitch.

This simply isn’t true and can completely be disproven by linking the Laura thread. It may be that the LC area has less of a population than Jeff/ Orleans area. Therefore, you are seeing more posts and attention to this thread?

Great to hear. We appreciate it. Just like I’m sure the people in Mermentau enjoyed my hot lunch plates! And that’s all we can do…

But why does that have to be the case? Why did part of our state have to be destroyed by another historic storm for another part to get the assistance it's needed for a year?

We shouldn't need half of our state to be destroyed to get assistance anywhere. I don't know that's a reflection of our piss poor state government, or piss poor federal government, but it's sad either way.

If that's what it takes to get SWLA the assistance it needs, then I would much rather them not get it at all. No need for more people to suffer the way SWLA has.

But I also have little faith in our state government to actually spread that money out. Hell, our Governor was talking about this being the worst storm since 1850 before it hit, like 2020 never happened.

I know we all want to forget 2020, but damn...

Wow, that is incredible. Louisiana is so unique in how you can have major storm surge so far away from the actual Gulf itself. It really is a complex state in terms of its geography.

Yeah, and he was a smaller tug! Unreal he stayed. That captain could have found a job faster than a truck driver right now.

Looks like it could actually splinter in to a few storms and even possibly another in the gulf. Scary one.

I lived in Prairieville for 2.5 years. Met alot of good people there (even though none of them could pronounce my last name ). Still have a lot of family in that area. I helped some buddies after the '16 flood, and I'll damn sure be back to help again. Can't stand to see this happening to people, and we've been fortunate to miss the brunt of 2 major hurricanes now. The least I can do is help out, because God knows we will need it soon enough ourselves.
