Our family's famous Katrina story is this...NOLA was getting a lot of federal aid and the northshore sort of seemed to be getting the shaft. My family was at a Houston hotel a month or two in maybe? And my mom was up early and went downstairs to get some coffee. She saw all of these important officials meeting and overheard them discussing disaster recovery. She went to one of the women and burst into tears and begged her to pay attention to the other non-NOLA areas; the woman took her into her arms and said "we are going to get your area the help you need". My mom pulled away, took a second look at the lady, and realized..."Oh my gosh. You are Condaleeza Rice!" she took my mom to meet some other secretaries that were meeting and my mom was floored at how nice they were to a random person like her.
Yes, it is a CSB, and no, I don't know how my mom was able to access Condy so easily like that.

How many times did JBE do a press conference demanding federal assistance for LC? None. We were out the national news in 3 days.
